Check out the LDS site online and you will find a lot of info on Sarah Hadden
and her ancestors. It can take you back to 1185 which may or may not be correct.
You can check the catalogue of the Salt Lake library for films that would have
data that may substantiate the family tree that you found online.
So far no one has proved that Psyche's surname is Pitman. There is a lot of
circumsttantial evidence that it is Pitman, but as far as I know it has not been
proven. Personaly, I am sure that it was Pitman, but.... The records of the
Virginia counties of Tazewell Co, Russell Co, Frederick Co and Shendoah Co
should be checked for Pitman references and maybe you can find the answer there.
The LDS site takes the Horner line back to 1530, but gives no references.
Another place to look for books on these people is the online catalogue of the
Allen County Public Library. Its URL is:

The Library of Congress is another place to check for books.
Let us know what you find out.

I am looking for sources for evidence of Sarah Haddon 1676, wife of George Clevenger, Deliverence Horner 1737, wife of George Clevenger b 1714, Psyche Pittman, wife of Thomas. I would like to research the wives history. Does anyone have suggestions of some books that would be helpful?
I have a problem with GenForum and I don't know if it is the website or my
computer. When I am looking at a posting and click on the green "Print

helpful. Can somebody test it and let me know the results of their efforts?

In the 1850 Ray County Census (page 333, Family # 730)
a James Frakes, age 3, is listed living with Samuel
Clevenger, Sr (age 57) and wife Susan (age 39). Could
this 3 yr old James Frakes be a child of Psyche Clevenger
Frakes and grandson of Samuel Clevenger, Sr.? This is
not my line of the Clevenger family, but I have this in my
files.

Thank you for sharing your information. Actually, I was fortunate enough to
find a copy of "Buchanan County History" at an antique mall and bought it.
So, I have the article written by Clyde Weeks and Clyde clued me into an
older Buchanan County book with an article on Nathan Frakes from which he
took alot of his information.
I do have a problem with Nathan's birthyear. The articles state 1838 and
his death certificate says 1835, but Joseph and Psyche were married in
December of 1839. I will be looking into this puzzle soon.
Thanks again,

You may already have this information, but there is a section in the Buchanan
County History on the Frakes Family. It states -
Joseph Frakes was born in Kentucky and lived his childhood there. It says he
moved to Ray County and later to Doniphan County, KS and then to Buchanan
County, MO. He and Psyche had 11 children and gives their names. He died at
78 and she lived beyond 90. Their son, Nathan, born in 1838, in Clay County,
MO came to Buchanan co with his father and engaged in farming for the rest of
his life. He lived 2 miles nw of Halls near New Made Lake. The article
gives the wives of Nathan and their children's names. This is quite a large
article on the Frakes family, but there is no more mention of Psyche
Clevenger. One of the children's name was Psyche Frakes. This article was
written by Clyde Weeks and is on page 230 of the book.
Frankie Clevenger Haney (of the Ohio Clevenger line)
Since Psyche was born in 1824, she would have been 5 or 6 in 1830 when the
census taker tallied the families. So you can look at all the Ray Co Clevengers
1830 census records and see who has little girls of this age. Then check the
Ray Co Clevenger book and see which ones of the daughters have been recognized
and named and which families have daughters this age who were not named in the
book. Let's hope that there was only one family. <G> The 1830 census was the
only census when she was counted with her parents. It is not surprising that
she got lost. Let us know what you found out.

Hello LaRae,
While not a direct ancestor (as far as we can tell at this time), I do have
Psyche Clevenger and Joseph Frakes in my database. I am missing information
on her date of death and dates of birth and death (and locations) for the
children. Also, I didn't show a Jasper, so he would be an addition.
My marriage date is 4 March 1840, but that could have been the recording
date, instead of the actual marriage.
Thank you for any help.

I am sorry about the mistake on the birthyear. According to her headstone
located in Kerlin Cemetery near Halls, MO, Psyche (Sisha) was born January
10, 1824. I recently made the trip to the Ray County Genealogy Library and
Barb Proffitt was generous enough to meet me there. We went through several
books and were unable to find Psyche's parents. We did, however, find the
record of her marriage to Joseph Frakes on 12 Dec. 1839 and a detailed study
of the Frakes family that was printed in the Winter 1998 edition of "Ray
County Reflections".
I am still searching for the parent of Psyche Clevenger Frakes, born 10 Jan.
1824 and married to Joseph Frakes 12 Dec. 1839, parents of Nathan A. Frakes.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
