Hello, I was wondering if anyone has this family on their tree or has any information on them. Job Clevenger and Mahala Sinclair were both born in Indiana in the early 1800's. They had the following children that I know so far: Bennett, Nancy, Sarah, Leota (Lena), Jessie (or known as India), Ormsby, Mary?, Lester, Emma. If you can add to these children, please contact me. Thanks
Stephanie

Hi,
I show that on the 1880 Soundex for Missouri
Job Clevenger W. M. 50 born in Indiana (now in Clinton Co. -- City of
Cameron -- shoal township)
Mahala W. F. 44 born in Indiana
Mary M. daug. W. F. 18 born in Iowa
Armaby son. W. M. 15 "
Lena daug. W. F. 11 "
Jessie daug. W. F. 06 "
Emma daug. W. F. 04 "
And if I remember correctly there was a large picture of Job Clevenger in
the courthouse. I would have to ask Virginia or Barbara to be sure where it
was. But it seems like it was in the courthouse in Clinton. We were in a lot
of courthouses.

Carol, I would dearly love to have a copy of a picture of Job. There is
nobody in my present family that has ever seen a picture of him that I know
of. The courthouse for Clinton County MO is located in the county seat of
Plattsburg, MO. There is no picture of him there that I know of. I was also
born in Cameron, MO and lived near Plattsburg. Job and Mahala are buried in
the McDaniel Cemetery just east of Cameron. Another note is that the Armaby
that is listed above should acatually read Ormsby. The name was usually
pronounced as "Armsby" but spelled with an "O". Ormsby Mitchell Macnight
Clevenger is my great grandfather. He was born March 22, 1865
Thanks,

Hello Stephanie,
I was really excited to see your post. Job and Mahala are my great
grandparents. Mahala Elizabeth Sinclair was born Aug. 20, 1835 in Grant
county, Indiana. Her parents were John P. Sinclair, b. 1809, Grant co. IN
and Nancy Olinger, b. 1813, Grant co.IN.
These are the children that I have listed for Job and Mahala, but I don't
have your Lena Leota. It may be that she was born after my Ormsby.
Bennett Clevenger, b. Oct 20, 1853
Nancy Elizabeth Clevenger, b. Dec. 23, 1855
Sarah Alice Clevenger, b. Feb. 23, 1858
Ormsby Mitchell MacNight Clevenger, Mar. 22, 1865
Mary ? Clevenger, b. unknown
Lester Wilson Clevenger, b. unknown
Emma ? Clevenger, b. unknown
If these names match yours. then please contact me for more detailed
information.

Dear Clevenger relatives...
Received this e-mail message from Nancy (Geren) Carter regarding a possible inherited (excessive bleeding) health condition. Benjamin Henry Clevenger is our common gg-grandfather, and Nancy is concerned her inherited blood problem is possibly common to Clevengers. This would be impossible to prove without many expensive and extensive blood tests being done on Clevenger descendants. I am sure Nancy just desires all relatives to be aware of what she has encountered with her blood problem and to be aware of the possible treatment, if such a problem is ever encountered.
Please e-mail any information you may have, if you are aware of any such related Clevenger encountered problems of excessive bleeding.

Subject: IMPORTANT INFO FOR CLEVENGER RELATIVES
Hi, Bill-
I am trying to get the word about my inherited condition out to anyone who might be affected. Could you please forward this to anyone who should know?
I believe everything happens for a reason. I believe that I encountered this challenge because God knew I would be aggressive in finding out what was wrong, and informing others who may be at risk. Will you please help me get the word out?
Thanks, Nancy

Dear Family,
I am writing to inform you of a very unlikely, but possible, inherited health risk to my blood relatives.
After a lifetime of odd health concerns, I was able to get a diagnosis from Medical College of Ohio. I am "one in a million" who has an inherited condition called dense granule deficiency, or Delta dense granule platelet storage deficiency. Blood has three main components- red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Platelets promote clotting. The parts of the platelet that carry the chemicals necessary for clotting are the dense granules. Using computer imaging with electron microscopy at MCO where there is a special research project underway, I was found to have only half of the dense granules as normal. Now that I have been diagnosed, I wear a Medic Alert bracelet that states I need DDAVP, a commonly available medication, in case of bleeding. It can also be given prior to surgery.
I can almost assure you that your physician has never heard of it. I have even had hematologists who have never heard of it! The technology that identifies this problem is very recent, and not commonly available.
This test must be done at a special facility, using freshly drawn blood. (You must be at the actual facility to have the test.) The symptoms are abnormal bleeding, slow healing, and-believe it or not- migraine headaches. However, symptoms may be insidious. My sister, Jeannie, almost died due to hemorrhaging after a tonsillectomy as a child. After many strange health conditions, I required an emergency hysterectomy and 21 units of blood following a routine D&C. I was in ICU with a ventilator, fluid in my lungs, and a possible heart attack (since ruled out) in May. I am just now getting back to teaching, with reduced strength.
Because of some incidental history involving migraines, excessive nosebleeds, and people with abnormal recoveries after surgery, I tend to suspect my mother’s side of the family (Stump-Hartman-Clevenger).My mom was Dolores Stump Geren, and she tragically died in 1988 from colon cancer. Her father, Paul Stump, died at the age of 24 due to "peritonitis from a ruptured abscess in the abdomen". Grandma Louise Hartman Stump is a joyful 93 years old, and lives at Otterbein Cridersville. Although she is confined to a wheelchair, her personality remains delightfully intact.
With blood supplies so low in the U.S., I also urge you to GIVE BLOOD. After never having a transfusion in my life, my life was saved because blood was there when I needed it. You never know when your child, parent, nephew, neighbor- ANYONE YOU KNOW- could be saved by the gift of YOUR blood.
TAKE CARE! Let’s hope this holiday season approaching is a safe and healthy one for all!
Sincerely, Nancy Geren Carter handson(a)bright.net
Does any one have any proof that Sitche Clevenger's maiden name was Pitman? I have found web sites which state Sitche was the daughter of William Pitman and Hannah Loker Kimble. William was shown as the son of Richard Pitman and Charity Danford. Does this agree with anyone's research and what would be a good source of documentation of this?
I also would like to thank Lori Camper for sharing her pictures of Sitche's grave. Those pictures were a real treat to receive. Does anyone have pictures of James Clevenger who married Leticia Hatcher, Jesse who married Jane Morrison or of Thomas?
Thanking you for any information you can share.
Mertie
I just updated my genealogy page to include photos of headstones from the
Clevenger Cemetery near Newport, TN. Among these photos is a photo of
Sitche Clevenger's stone, wife of Thomas Clevenger.
A big thanks goes to my parents who recently vacationed in East Tennessee
and took these photos along with many others. They hiked through corn
fields, thick brush, and who knows what else to take these pictures.
You can view these photos mosquito-free by going to my home page at
http://www.LoriCamper.com and clicking on the genealogy link. I hope you
enjoy these pictures as much as we have.
