Hello Cuzzins,
Jessie Audley Clevenger Hectorne, b. Feb. 7, 1889 and married Frank Hectorne
on Oct. 22, 1948 was my Great Aunt. Her brother was my Grandfather, Charlie
Wilson Clevenger, b. Oct. 10, 1890. I recall my dad has spoken of his Aunt
Jess before but I don't really remember meeting her. I do remember Mildred
(Dean) and Millard (Dud) and a few of the others. I was in Cameron, MO a
couple of weeks ago taking pictures out at the cemetary and looking around
town. I was born in Cameron myself in 1949. I don't have George and Sarah
Clevenger in my database. Who are they? I am looking forward to sharing
info with you.

EDWIN O'DELL (Edwin Odell) born Feb 6, 1802, Cocke County, Tennessee,
died July 21, 1886 Ray County, Missouri, burial in New Garden Baptist
Church Cemetery, Ray County, Missouri, a son of CALEB O'DELL and RACHEL
CLEVENGER. EDWIN O'DELL is the 3 rd Great Grand Father to Paul Odle of
Yukon, OKLAHOMA.
Excelsior Springs Standard 12 Sept 1930
Decendant of Earley Settlers Sets Date on Building of Cabin
Rev. J,C. Turnage, Baptist Minister at Armstrong, MO., returned
yesterday to the site of his mothers birthplace, the log cabin section
of the Golf Clubhouse, and then called on C.W. Fish to correct the date
of the erection of the Building.
For the year, 1835, had been accepted as the correct date of the
building of the log cabin. Rev. Turnage said that his mother, Esther
O'Dell, was born in the building Jan. 21, 1828. Edwin O'Dell, who came
to Missouri from Tennessee, and his wife nee Clevenger, took out a
patent on the farm. The certified copy of the patent was dated Nov. 1,
1830, original entry 1829. The cabin was built a short time before the
patent was granted.
O'Dell was in debt and raised tobacco to pay interest on notes. He also
raised mules and when they were ready for market, sold them for enough
to clear off all indebtedness and to leave him $900 in cash. He often
remarked that hard times came to him no more.
Edwin and Lettice O'Dell had ten children, all born in the log cabin,
five boys and five girls. The boys names in order of birth were,
Pittman, Moses, Aaron, Jesse, and David. The girls, Sallie, Betsey,
Esther, Ruth, and Mahala. David who servived all the others, died only
a week and a half ago. Father, Mother, daughters and sons were all
hardshell Baptists.
The logs used in the building were practically all walnut and were hewn
with broad axe and adz. The corners are dovetailed and are beautifull
apecimens of their earley handicraft. In the cabin was a loft used as a
bedroom. From the east door a passageway led to a log kitchen. Rev.
Turnage says that his bed was in the passageway.
The land surrounding the cabin was heavily timbered but was gradually
cleared for pasture. He has often heard his grandfather and
grandmother tell of frequent visits by numerous Indians, all of whom
were friendly. Deer, panthers, other large game were prevalent down to
the days preceding the civil war.

I hope this helps some.
