See page 203 in the Ray County book on the Clevengers. all those people are
related. You can get a copy of the book from

It cost $40 inc. S & H and is well worth it. - a lot cheaper than going to Ray
Co to research.

There is a Clara Clevenger, age 9 and born in MO, in the household of Jesse
Clevenger in the 1880 census of Fishing River Twp, Clay co, MO. Jesse was
the son of James who was the son of Jesse and Jane (Morrison) Clevnger and
this Jesse was probably the son of Tom and Psyche Clevenger.
Check the marriage records of Clay Co and the 1900 census for the Asbury
family to see if this is the right age for Clara. The Ray County book has
information on this line, but not on Clara as to whom she married. Let me
know what you find out.

Carolyn,
I don't think I can help you at this time. I just found out the spouse to
our Sarah Boen Clevenger so I haven't gotten very far. You may want to
contact Sarah Clevenger at sclevenger(a)iquest.net. She does lots of
Clevenger research.

Hey Patsy. I talked to my mom tonight. She said that she did know
where this Cooley Lake is. Both of my parents are retired, and my mom
said that her and my dad would try to drive out and find this
cemetery. I'll let you know what we find.

|Hi,

|Can you tell us where Elliott / Elitzer cemetery is located at in
Clay County?

In Clay Co MO between Orrick(Ray Co) and Missouri City (Clay Co) Jesse and
Jane lived in Ray about a half mile from the county line and a mile from the
cemetery. I think some of their children who died earlier may have been
buried there, therefore, Jesse and Jane were put there with other family
members. James who had land in Clay County died before 1849 and I was looking
for his grave. I was extremely surpised and pleased to find J&J . 2 young
grandchildren's stones are next to theirs and the rest of the row is
fieldstones set upright in the ground. I suspect that Sallie Broadhurst, James
and others in this family may be the fieldstones. In Clay county in the early
1820's a fort was built on what we call Dillon Hill. This cemetery, which is
at the base of Dillon hill, may have been one of the earliest in the county
and used by the "neighborhood" bp
Does anyone know the burial place of Jesse Clevenger b. abt 1775 son
of Thomas Clevenger and Psyche Pittman? Thanks for your help.

Hi Sarah
The Rachael I am Inquiring about was the Daughter of Thomas Clevenger and
Syche Pittman born abt 1785 and was belived to be the spouse of Caleb O'Dell.
Virginia
Hi, I'm Virginia (Turnage) Sandmeier
My husband, Richard Sandmeier, (Sandy) has been corresponding with you on this
Email list.
I am particuraly interested in verifying information contained in a letter
that my father, Jephthah Edwin Turnage, wrote to Irma Tindall 27 June 1966.
Here are parts of the letter:
"...that was a picture of the old cabin on Excelsior Golf Link. My Grandpa,
Jephthah O'Del,l told me that the first log cabin built by his grandfather,
Edwin O'Dell, burned and that this one, now standing was actually the second
one built by him at that place.
You asked before about Granddaddy Ed;s(Edwin O'Dell) mother.I told your
mother what Grandpa Jephtha told me. I suppose she told you but if not here is
what he said, "My Grandfather, Edwin O'Dell, was one of six children whose
mother was never married." Actually, when he and I were visiting that old
cabin I kept asking him about the family history. When I asked him about
Granddaddy Ed's parents, he told me that I had gone far enough, then made the
above statement. I presume that Grandpa knew because he must have been a grown
young man when his Grandfather, Edwin, died."
In a book that I have, A concise History of the New Garden Primitive Baptist
Church written by Leon Clevenger, Rachael O'Dell is listed as a charter
member, and in the margin my father had written that she was Edwin O'Dell's
mother.
LDS CD (PAF Ver 416F) says that it was rumored that Caleb O'Dell had two
families.
However, all the children seem to have been born before Rachael's death.
Does anyone have a marriage date and source for Caleb and Rachael?
Information of a second spouse?
A verified list of Caleb's children?
Any other info that would shed some light on this subject?
Virginia Sandmeier
