I'd appreciate it if someone could help me on a question I have about
Abigail Cleveland, the daughter of Josiah Cleveland b. October 07, 1690 in
Essex Co., MA and died in Canterbury, Windham, CT February 09, 1762 and
Elizabeth Paine b. January 05, 1685/86 in Barnstable co., MA and died
Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut August 26, 1762. I have seen conflicting
information about her birth and children. I was hoping that someone on the
list my be able to set me straight. I have that she was born on June 03,
1715 in Canterbury, New London, Connecticut. I show that she was married to
John Adams but that prior to that marriage she gave birth to a son John on
February 28, 1734/35. The birth record lists Abigail as mother but no father
is listed and he so he took on his mother's maiden name.
I descend from this John Cleveland and his wife Elizabeth or "Betsey" Downer
and was wondering if anyone else has done research into this line? Thanks
for any help.

I checked what little info. I have. I haven't worked extensively on this line, however. I am desc. from Moses and Ann Winn Cleaveland/Cleveland in this order: Aaron & Dorcas (nee Wilson); Aaron, Jr. and Abigail (nee Waters); Josiah and Joanna (nee Porter); Josiah, Jr and Ruth (nee Johnson); Aaron P. and Pamala/Pamela (nee Warren); Horatio J. and Cynthia (nee Carley); Sally Maria/Sarah Mary and Michael L. Bolton; Lucinda J. and her 2nd husb. James Cunningham; thier son Neal and wife Ola (nee Brown); Hazel Cunningham and her husb. C.C. 'Bill' Butler, my dad's parents.
I got what little I know from a cousin of my paternal grandmother up in Illinois. I hope that link helps. It is one of many resources that has helped me.

Your Josiah Cleveland is listed in "The Genealogy of the Cleveland and
Cleavland Families " , he is number 61. It is a three volume set. It
was compiled by Edmund Janes Cleveland and Harace Gillette Cleveland.
You can request one volume or all three. My 3rd great-grandmother is
listed in the third volume so you may want to get all three for your
information.
I am descended from Henry Cleveland, Josiah's brother. I requested the
volumes from the intra-library system of my local library.
