Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Sharon,

Please remember when you are posting to the mailing list that there are, in fact, two of these lists: Clendenin and Clendinen.
In order for your message to reach the most people you need to send your message to both lists. You will HAVE to be subscribed to both lists.
Thanks,
Sharon
I am descended from John Clendenin of Cumberland Co, PA, son of William Clendenin of Quarterland. John's daughter Mary born c 1730, my ancestor, married Samuel Calhoun b 1721 in Ireland. .
My source for the possible 1st marriage of William of Quarterland to Roseanne Kirkpatrick in "The House of Glendonwyn", 1942, by G.T.Glindening. The actual quote is "Anne - probably Rosanne - sister to Robert Kirkpatrick of Glenkiln".
This is, of course, not proof, but in my 35 years of genealogical research I've discovered that you cannot close your mind to any possibility. My original message only suggested a possibility.
"The House of Glendonwyn" names William of Quarterland as son of William at Castle. This son William, who may have married "Anne" was baptised 16 May 1680 according to the actual text from Langholm, Dumfries OPR, making this William about 20 years old in 1700.
Obviously one reference isn't proof. Thankfully you discovered Rose Fisher. It is good to have as much information as possible.
Has it ever occurred to anyone that William of Quarterland was about 35 years old when he married Rose Fisher in 1713? Rose may have been a second wife who bore William a second family. A previous marriage in William's younger years is possible. Could William have:
a. married first in Scotland c 1700 to Roseanne Kirkpatrick?
b. had a son, John, born c 1704 in Scotland (& other children)?
c. Become a widower between C 1704-1713?
d. purchased Quarterland by 1713?
e. married Rose Fisher in Killyleagh in 1713?
I have no info to support this. Just wondering. pjfeather(a)zoominternet.net
