Hi Sharon,
I've emailed Jim, but wanted to let you know I hope to attend, along with
several of my cousins.

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for the information. Even though 2009 is in the distance it is
something to think about.
As an aside here is some reading more about DNA . The author of Seven
Daugthers of Eve has written a new book.
It is called - Saxons, Vikings ans Celts: The Genetics Roots of Britain and
Ireland.
Also, Can you tell me the easiest way to approach the addition for the 67
markers and the
mita-chondrial DNA through FamilyTreeDNA ? When we get back from vacation I
am going to have it done will let you know the results.
Thanks,
Steve Clendenan

UNVEILING OF CLENDENEN CEMETERY PLAQUE, MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA
At Williamson Road at Miramar Drive. Williamson Road is the first street
east of Main Street Markham Village (or Highway 48), on the north side of
16th Avenue.
This site sits on a small portion of Lot 18, Concession 8 of which the Crown
granted Patent to John Clendenen in 1803 after settlement duties had been
performed. It is believed that John and his wife Magdalene and some the
family rest here. Five markers survive.
Anyone interested that can make this event is welcome to attend the
dedication of this historical marker to commemorate one of Markham's
earliest settler families. The work of Markham Officials in making it
possible to hold the Clendenen plaque unveiling is appreciated. We give many
thanks to the Ontario Genealogical Society and the Ontario Historical
Society who launched the suit to save this historic site.
The local councillor has suggested that after the plaque unveiling, we go to
the museum for a reception to allow family members to get together, warm up
(if it's cold) and have a coffee, etc. He thought it would be interesting
if family members could bring photos and other items to show each other, and
the museum could take some pictures for the archives.
Hi Sharon,
I'm not able to travel so I can't attend the gathering.
Don

Thanks for sending me this info. I had never heard of this gathering before.
But then again I was lacking a bit in my Clendenen family info. Does this
gathering include clans o ther than the Clendenen's? It seems to me that I
have three others in my family line.
Most probably we won't be able to make it but I am not prepared to
completely give up the idea. Our youngest son to whom I just sent this
message might go. He is prone to travel about the world at every
opportunity.

Subject: CBS News 60 Minutes - Genetic Genealogy
The Associate Producer of CBS News 60 Minutes just advised me that their
piece on genetic genealogy is running this Sunday. Because of football the
show will be delayed on the east coast, and will air from 7:30-9:00 ET. Make
sure to check your local listing to see when it will be running in your
area. The producer consulted with APG to verify some facts, so not sure if
APG will be mentioned or not, but should be an interesting program.
