Again, using the fact line unproven takes care of this as well, not sure
where I got the info on Ohio, my files are a bit disorganized due to their
size! I also have an alt date line in the facts section.
So we have...
Descendants of William Boggs
1 William BOGGS b: 1751 d: 1830 in Kentucky
Alt. date: 31 March 1849 death, Ohio
.. +Ann CLENDENIN b: 1756 in Virginia d: March 1801 Father:
Charles CLENDENIN Mother: Mary Ann PATTERSON Lineage: unproven
2 Margaret Jane BOGGS
.... +Charles STEPHENSON b: 1783 m: 27 October 1803 in Bourbon Co., KY
d: Abt. 1827 in Clark Co., KY Father: George STEPHENSON Mother: Mary
Ellen CLENDENIN

There is a William Clendenin born about 1824, son of George Clendenin
(1791-1831) and Margaret Edwards Lewis (1785-1832). I had her name as Lowe

Hi Sharon,
I forward to you a very large thank you concerning research proof of relationships at any generation level. This has been one thing drilled into me during all of my research. It is extremely important to have actual certificates, references and written descriptions for the sources researched to support what has been done.
To give an example I am still researching Adam Clendenan, my elusive ancestor with the 1695 marriage and unknown birth date, yet to prove the connection back into Scotland. I have a great deal of information for the period which is useful, however, of little value until I can prove that connection.
Again, I thank you for your comments and the search continues.

Okay,
I have kept quiet on this forum for quite some time now but I've got to object.
Sandy, some of the information that you post below is incorrect or NOT PROVEN! I understand why you have it listed as you do, but we need to make some corrections.
>>1 Charles CLENDENIN b: Bet. 1712 - 1715 in Dumfrieshire, Scotland

> d: Abt. 1788 in Greenbrier Co., VA Father: James PATTERSON
NO proof has been found that Charles Clendenin (of any spelling) married a Mary Ann Patterson. It is BELIEVED that he did, but not proven.

Here we're going to have real problems: 1. There is no proof at all that there even was an Ann Clendenin. Secondly regardless of who William Boggs' wife was, he died in Kentucky c 1830 without having remarried and did NOT die in OH in 1849.
I have researched the lines of Mary Ellen Clendenin and William Boggs extensively because they are both are my direct ancestors. Mary Ellen's son, Charles, married William Boggs' daughter, Margaret. I have a copy of the consent to their marriage from Clark Co., KY. The deeds distributing a portion of George Stephenson's estate to his granddaughter, Paulina Clark, wife of John of Putnam Co., IN, along with consent of Charles Stephenson for his daughter, Paulina, to marry John Clark, prove that Charles Stephenson was the son of Mary Ellen Clendenin and George Stephenson.
There is also no proof that Charles Clendenin is the son of anyone in Ireland or Scotland. Obviously he had parents but no documentable proof has been found naming those individuals. I have researched from here in the US and Pat Bird, whose wife was a Glendenning has researched from England making personal trips to Ireland to search the original records.
If ANYONE has documentable proof taking the West Virginia Clendenin families back 2000 years I would like to see that proof. I am not talking about someone's book. I am talking about copies of original records or published transcriptions of original records. I have spent hundreds of dollars looking for proof of Charles (WV) Clendenin's lineage
We do NO one a service when we continue to post lineages without documentable proof or even a preponderance of evidence. That is why the format of the Clendinen Family Research website was changed from listing lineages to listing public records which had been located.
I will be happy to send anyone who would like to see the proven lineage of Charles Clendinen of West Virginia a copy of my database but not for publication or redistribution. This is my research and I will NOT have it put out there as gospel. It does contain unproven but SUSPECTED information.

Sandy,
I agree that in the 1850 census "Joseph" is actually James A. Clendenin.
His nine year old son's name was Joseph Clendenin, named, I expect. for his
grandfather, Joseph Jividen. William M. Clendenin and his brother James A.
Clendenin lived near each other all their lives although James lived in
Jackson Co. and William lived close by in Putnam. I am fairly confident that
Lucy, wife of Andrew Lewis, is their sister. She lived close by as well. She
and Andrew Lewis are buried in the same Jackson Co., WV cemetery and her
father, Charles Clendenin. Charles Clendenin's tombstone message led me to
Staunton, VA and the answer to the mystery of Nancy Ball Clendenin--"Charles
Clendenin Died 1861" and "Nancy his wife lies in the cemetery at Staunton
VA."

Hi:)
My Great Great Grandfather was SAMUEL ALFRED CLENDINNEN Born in Wexford
Ireland in 1851,,Father was WILLIAM CLENDINNEN...Mother LYDIA DEAKER..
One of his Brothers went to Canada..JOHN DEAKER CLENDINNEN.
SAMUEL ALFRED CLENDINNEN came here in 1875..Married CLARISSA HARE .
Am also Connected to the WILLIAM GLENDINNING/ROSEANNE KIRKPATRICK lineage
from Dumfriess Scotland
One of their sons JAMES..Came to Ireland and Married JANE REID..
Thus Follows my Lineage thru WILLIAM CLENDINNEN(James and Janes Son)
Does anyone else have these connections?
Thankyou:)
