Hello All,
Have received an update with respect to gr gr grandmother, Maria Glendenning
[Glendinning, Glendining etc]. It appears that as a child, the family lived
in the Toronto area and later, Streetsville.
From the 1851 Census for Streetsville, Ontario Canada [Halton-Peel] County:
JT Glendening born in Scotland 43 years old.
Barbara Glendening born in Scotland 36 years old.
children:
**Maria Glendening Born in Canada 17 Years old. [gr gr grandmother]
Ellen Glendening Born in Canada 15 Years old.
Betsy Glendening Born in Canada 12 Years old.
Mary Glendening Born in Canada 10 Years old.
Margrat Glendening Born in Canada 7 Years old.
Ann Glendening Born in Canada 2 Years old.
This would put J T 's birth year at 1808 ish - also, may have had more
children born after 1851.
In the early Weslyan baptism records online I managed to find baptisms but
only for 2 of the children:
Home District, Toronto Twp.
Alexander Glendenning, born 1848-02-02.....baptized 1849-01-20
Parents: James and Barbara Glendenning
notes: Alexander does not appear on the 1851 census, may have passed away
prior
Margaret Jane Glendenning, born 1845-07-2.....baptized 1849-01-13
Parents: James and Barbara Glendenning
According to family bible entry, Maria Glendening, above, married James
STEWART on September 7, 1857 in Streetsville.
Hoping to connect with anyone researching this line, hoping to find out
exactly where in Scotland the family emigrated from, and when.
Cheers and Many Thanks,
Jane Stewart,
Isle of Lewis, Scotland
I just came back from a QUICK trip to Lancaster County and I found
absolutely NO proof that Charles Clendenin married Mary Ann Patterson in
Lancaster County in 1735 nor that he had ever lived there.
( I descend from Charles Clendenin (1714-1786) for whom the city of
Charleston, WV is named. And if one believes the internet and etc
information I also descend from Charles's wife Mary Ann Patterson. The
dates for Charles are not from my own research. They are the dates that
seem to float around for this man. I descend through Charles's son
William and William's daughter Sophia. There are many of us in WV who
come from this family.)

Just thought that I would pass along what I am saving into my data base
today in case anyone sees something that I did not see....or finds
something helpful.
