I am transferring my old data base to my new computer and editing as
I go. I realize that I have never settled on a relationship between
Archibald Clendenin, Jr who was massacred and Charles Clendenin for whom
the city of Charleston, WV is named. I think that I have often assumed
that it is a nephew-uncle relationship. But in my old data base I had
added Archibald as a son of Charles. Have we discussed this before on
the list? Does anyone have any strong proof or guess on this? I just
can not remember as I have been away from my Clendenins for so long
working on other lines. Thanks for your help. Marsha in WV
Sounds like she would be a good source if you are researching these lines.

Sharon,
Do you know of others researching the Abner Hamilton or Clendennon lines? I
am descended from Rebecca Hamilton, dau. of Abner and Mary Clendennon
Hamilton. Rebecca married Col. James Wilson of Monroe County. I have
extensive data on these families. Rebecca's brother was John Clendennon
Hamilton who was hanged for the murder of Dr. Sanderson. It was a very
famous trial and he was convicted on circumstantial evidence. Later someone
else confessed to the crime. John Rowan was Hamilton's lawyer and had close
connections to the family.

Hello Sharon,
I just found your query about Adam and Isaac Clendennon. I am descended from
Mary Clendennon who was married to Abner Hamilton. Mary was the daughter of
Adams Clendennon. She possibly died in Montgomery County, KY because Abner
married Elizabeth Elliott there before moving to Barren County. I do not
have the proof but read recently that Adams Clendennon was the son of John
Clendennon and Mary Adams. What do you know of this?
Suzy
Can anyone out there help her?

Dear Sharon,
Are you by any chance related to William Glendinning married to Marion Paterson around 1780 or William Glendinning married to Janet Fisher dau of John Fisher and Janet Sadler. William and Janet were married in 1812?
I would appreciate any information.
Thank you,
Fay

I would not normally send a virus warning to a genealogy list but this one
seems targetted toward us.
The inventors of virusses seem to be getting smarter. Since genealogy is
the second or third most popular use of the computer, it was only a matter
of time before they would find a tantalizing lure for us.
DO NOT OPEN "NEW PICTURES OF FAMILY"
It is a virus that will erase your whole "C" drive.
It will come to you in the form of an E-mail
from a familiar person. I repeat a friend sent
it to me, but called & warned me before I
opened it. He was not so lucky and now he
cant even start his computer! Forward this
to everyone in your address book. I would
rather receive this 25 times than not at all.
If you receive an email called
"FAMILY PICTURES," do not open it!
DELETE it right away!
This virus removes all dynamic link libraries
(.dll files) from your computer.
Did anyone ever tell you
Just how special you are?
The enlightenment you emit
Might even light a star
Did anyone ever tell you
How important you make others feel?
Somebody out here is smiling
About care that is so real
Did anyone ever tell you
Many times, when they were sad
Your posting made them smile a bit
In fact it made them glad
For the time you spend posting things
And sharing what you find
There are no words to thank you
lots of people think you're fine !
Did anyone ever tell you
Just how much they appreciate you?
Well, my friend today I am
I do-- I do-- I do !!!
