Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
There are people from this family on the Clendenin list, maybe one of them
has more on Isaac---there is certainly a big gap in ages of children BUT we
are missing a lot of dates as well

I don't think viruses go away in 24 hours, just get your update and don't
open any weird attachments
Thanks to Jonalee for sharing this info!
Check this one out!!!!!!!!!

This will give you the story that broke yesterday afternoon on CIH for
computers
on Monday April 26, 1999. Sounds like it mainly effects Windows 95 and
98
users. NT Users evidently have nothing to worry about!?.
In that I have not updated my Anti-Virus Program since last August, I
will
shut down Sunday Evening and not open up my computer under Tuesday A.M.
While some feel this Virus has been overplayed [there are differences of
opinion on this], I personally am not taking any chances. If you have
not
updated your Anti-Virus in the past 6-8 months, I would recommend you do
the same. Norton's has published an Anti-Virus Kill tool downloadable.
I
believe McAfee has done the same? Check out your particular Anti-Virus
manufacturers site as many have offered free downloads of KILL tools for
the Win95/98.CIH Virus. This is only a "bandaid" fix but will allow you
time to upgrade your Anti-Virus Program if you haven't done so
previously.
My Anti-Virus program when run gave me a clean bill, however I also got
a
"flash" message that my system was in need of an update, an indication
that
I may or may not have protection against the CIH Virus.
I am definitely not an expert on Anti-Virus Programs, but am forwarding
this info to our group as a matter of importance & caution!!! An "ounce
of
prevention" might head off possible infection.
Have a great day & a better tommorrow!

Seems like I should have these but I don't, anyone else?

I am new to the Clendenin Rootsweb list and would like to let you know I
am researching these names: Clendenin, Andrews, Patterson, Galbraith, and
Steele. These families started in Lancaster County and Chester County during
the 1730's and 1740's.
John Clendenin: born in 1733 and emmigrated to Lancaster County in 1745
and married Margaret Steele. They had 10 children.
James Patterson: born in 1708 and emmigrated to Lancaster County in
1728. He married Mary Montgomery.
The Widow Andrews emmigrated to Chester County in the 1730/40's with her
9 children. Her oldest son, Arthur married Phoebe Galbraith.
I am willing to share information with anyone. Thanks.

Cousins, From The Wall Street Journal April 22, page B8:
Another Virus Threatens PCs this Monday
... The CIH virus has the capability to wipe out the BIOS on your computer
so the pc can't be 'booted up' This virus can travel on an attachment
which, if opened can spoil your whole day/month/? It can destroy any of the
files on the disk.
Like most users, I will not open ANY attachment unless I'm absolutely
certain of it's origin.

Looks to me like the LDS genealogy library databases are now on the web
(Hooray!), plus there are some databases to buy that look very cheap.
try www.familysearch.org
Maybe someone on the Clendenin list will know who she is, I have a few
McKinneys in Mason but prob. not connected

"SALT LAKE CITY -- Two people were killed and four others were shot

Library and began firing before being fatally wounded by police."
The library is scheduled to open today, Monday. Unfortunately, two people
including a lady doing research and a security guard were shot and killed by
a man with a history of mental problems. I can imagine that the guard was
more surprised than anyone else in library as it has always been a very
placid environment the many times I have been there. It will never be the
same for many of us. The Salt Lake City area is becoming a crazy place to
live and the Olympics are not helping. Jim in nearby Ogden, Utah

Hi Sharon,
I wan t to thank you for your updated address. I have read your
information about covering the cost for the website. Diane and I will
forward to you a money order in U.S. funds this coming week.
In the process of surfing the web I came across a site that may be
of some interest and makes one a little wary. A gentleman by the
name of Paul Angus Murray, Baron of Parton, is selling pieces of
his estate in Scotland. He claims to be a "Glendonwyn -
Glendenning - Clendinen" descendant. This is a money making
project that I have a little concern about. If you want to check out
the site it is: http://www.ukhq.com/baron.htm .

THREADED LIST ARCHIVES ARE NOW AVAILABLE. Now you can read
122,813 messages from 877 mailing lists using your Web browser by
visiting <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/>. All those messages are
from just three months of beta tests -- watch this archives grow
with its public debut.
This is a remarkably comfortable way to browse through the posts
that have been made to the lists. Be sure to use the integrated
search engine to find what you are looking for.
To use the Archiver you will need to pick a user name and

passwords and cookies is to keep spammers' e-mail address
harvesters *out* of the archives. Because of this password-and-
cookie feature, listowners can set up lists to be archived with
confidence that they are *not* exposing posters' addresses to
spammers. We encourage all RootsWeb listowners to visit the
Archiver and then include their lists in the archives.
The next step is to start making old list messages available.
Thanks to Marc Nozell for implementing the threaded archives.
It's great work.

Can anyone tell me if any genealogy videos exist for Scottish research?
I
am a board member of the British Isles Family History Society - U.S.A.
and
am trying to find if any videos exist that could be used at our Scottish
Study group or even one of our general meetings.
We are not interested in travel videos or subjects like Highland
dancing,
bagpipe competitions, etc. We are only interested subjects related to
Scottish genealogical research. Our society recently purchased a couple
of
English videos, one of which was on probate research.
If anyone knows of videos that might be of interest to us please let me
know of them and where I can acquire them. Please advise me at my own
E-mail address as this list is a very active list and I don't want other
list members bothered with my private request. Thank you.
Also, I invite you to check out our Website. We have a lot of
information
pertaining to research in Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland, lots of
services to members and non-members, and many links to other sites. We
also
exchange journals with societies in the above countries, plus Isle of
Man,
Australia and New Zealand. A number of Scottish links are to be added
tonight. Our Website address is:
