Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
George, I am replying with your email to the whole list so that they can
see your information.
Anything that has "Repost" in the subject line in the near future will be
repostings of old messages from our pre-rootsweb group. I have a lot of
good stuff in my personal email archives that many of our current listers
have not seen.
So what you saw was an oldie but goodie.
There is a chance that your Alexander is this one. But others on this list
have better information on your line.
Honey

the farm which is now possessed by her father Andrew Glendinen. I do
appoint the said John Morrow and John Stuart in Quarterland my sole

day of April 1764. Presen5t,--Jas. Clendinen. Josph Mcdoff, Indorso. Last
will of William Clendening of the parish of Killinchy proved in com form
Novr. 16, 1764 before me Bernard Ward.
In 1736 William Glendening of the Scottish Barntalloch had settled at
"Quarterland" in the parish of Killinchy, County Down, Ireland. The old
Jacobite lived there for many years and died in 1764. His will proved in
the diocesan court.
A note from Mr. Clendening attached to this document reads:
"William Clendinen's seal attached to his will had all but
oblitrated his signature. William's wife, Roseanne, was born at
Garrel in Kirkmichael,
Dumfriesshire, is supposed to have already died at the time William
wrote his will."

Grady, You are on the list because you are getting all the mail to the
list. We are writing privately right now because we are not talking about
anything of interest to the whole list of about 145 listers.
When you want to make a query to the list or send information to everyone,
you address your email to
CLENDINEN-L(a)rootsweb.com
Then, everyone sees it. They they answer to the list as well so we all can
see the information passing through it in case it might help our own
research. You can always write privately as well but it is important for
everyone to see any facts or questions about the research. Then,
everything that passes through rootsweb.com is archived and can be
retrieved by newcomers like you to see what has been discussed in the past.
Ask the list how to retrieve the archives. I am not great on techie
stuff.
So, get your questions and info out there so you can get some feedback.
In fact, you may not be alone in not knowing how this works, so I am going
to send this to the list as well. Therefore, you should get 2 copies of
this email--one private, and one public.

Dean, I just had a long look at that will of John's. I cannot remember
reading it before but I have a record of its existence. Perhaps I saw an
abstract of it.
I think that all the people in the second part are from one family. I
think that Euratina/Emalina is a daughter of Jane Wood and married to
Martin Shoulse. I think Matilda is her sister and the 3 sisters at home
ar Chelnessa, Cindilla, and Tabitha. John was probably the guardian for
this family and they were probably related to him in some way.
The M. C. Rodgers of Sevierville is very interesting to me. Albert W. T.
Clendenen married Eliza V. Rodgers. I have never been able to find
anything about her parents. As I recall Sevier Co TN is a burned county
and I believe she was from there.
Honey
Sharon, I still have most of the old emails from our pre-rootsweb days. I
might be able to recycle them through this list and thereby archive them
with rootsweb. I could weed out all the useless and repetitive messages.
It would also clean out my old mail box. I could label them in a special
way. Some of that old stuff might be of interest to our new members.
Honey
Dean,
There was a time before our rootsweb group when we had another less
structured email group of Clendenen researchers. Most of us rolled over
into this group with joy. I went back into my old email from that time and
found the address of the McGee researchers who may not be on this list any
more.
lilacpub(a)nc5.infi.net
I hope that is still a good address. At that time, I think they and
doloresr@erols
and I were the only Clendenens in the group who descended from Archibald
and his son John. I think Dolores is still with us.
If these addresses do not work, let me know & I will dig deeper.
