Hope this list accomodates all spellings of this surname as it is found spelled many ways in many records.....Clemmons/Clemments/Clemens/Clemmens/Clemons etc.
William H Clemmons and family are on the above 1900 census. William is shown with new wife of one year, Mattie J. Brown. William was first married sometime between 1873 and 1880 to the widow, Manerva Jane Wilson Windrix. Husband, David Windrix had died ca 1873. If William really was born ca 1859, then he was several years younger than Manerva as she was born ca 1847-48. Her age on the 1870 Jackson Co AL census record is probably correct as she is shown as 22 yrs old, yet only as 25 years old on the 1880 record. William was the guardian of William M Windrix, son of Manerva and David Windrix; he is shown as William Windrix's guardian on David's Civil War pension records. Apparently Manerva and William Clemmons had 2 sons of their own....David Monroe Clemmons & Charles Clemmons, born in July 1880 and Feb 1883.
I understand that William and Mattie J Brown Clemens moved to Tulsa and are buried there in Rose Hill Cemetery but I can't them on "FIND A GRAVE." Has anyone been able to find their gravesites?
On the above 1900 census, there is also shown an Abraham Wilson, a "Boarder", born March 1853. Can anyone on the list tell me if Abraham was just a boarder/worker or if there was some kind of family connection? The reason for asking is that Manerva J Windrix Clemens had a brother named Abraham Wilson and I'm trying to see if these 2 Abrahams could be one and the same person. There has been mentioned in a family story that there was an Abraham Wilson who died while on the way home to OK. Could he have been on his way back to OK from AL? I don't have a death date for this Abraham. Could this be the same Abraham that was in the 1900 Clemmons home? Could that Abraham have moved with William and Mattie J Clemmons to OK? I've looked for William and Mattie in a 1910 census but they aren't to be found. They should be somewhere in 1910! Would like to see if an Abraham Wilson was still living in their home in 1910.
The Wilson family came from SC and settled in West Amunchee, Walker Co GA around 1840. They were later found in 1860 DeKalb Co AL. In 1870, William Wilson, Manerva's father, was living with David and Manerva in their Scottsboro AL home. Can't find out when he died or where he is buried; could he possibly have been living with Manerva and William Clemens before 1880?
Any information, thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Also looking for information on a Josephine Chambers/Chalmers/Chumbers/Chumler, etc who was born in 1860 AL and was living in the 1870 home of Manerva J and David Windrix. Anyone have a Josephine of any kind that might fit/connect with Manerva? Unable to find Josephine after 1870.
One last question; how far apart would the town of Lebanon, DeKalb Co AL be from Scottsboro, Jackson Co?
