MANERVA WILSON-DAVID WENRICK/WINDRIX FAMILY OF GA-AL and PENNSYLVANIA
Manerva/Minerva Jane Wilson b. ca 1847 GA according to 1850 Walker Co GA Census
Daughter of: William & Sarah Wilson, who were born ca 1802 & 1812 in SC. Sarah's maiden name unknown
Living in DeKalb Co AL per 1860 DeKalb Co AL census. Sarah is not shown on this census
Manerva is living in Jackson Co AL in 1870 per census. Shown in the home with husband, David Wenrick/Windrix, William Wilson (probably her father) and also aJosephine Cha????? Census recording of the spelling of Josephine's surname is in question. Could be Chambers, Chalmers, Chansler, etc. Not sure how or if Josephine is related to either David or Manerva. Josephine born 1859-60 in AL; parents are unknown.
Manerva & David Wenrick/Windrix married June 15, 1869 in Madison Co AL per Madison Co AL marriage records. David has apparently died by 1880 as Manerva has remarried to William Henry Clemens and is shown in that home per 1880 Jackson Co AL census. The Clemens surname is often spelled Clemmons. Two Windrix children, Dollie A & William Windrix, are in the home but are listed as being Clemens, not Windrix. They should have been mentioned as step-children. Manerva Wilson Windrix Clemens applied for a minor’s pension for her son in Sept 1887 for David’s Civil War Service. On military records, William Clemmons is shown as guardian on Manerva's application. David’s name is spelled Windrix and Wenrick on various military records; Manerva’s is spelled Clemens and William Henry Clemens' as Clemmons.
David Wenrick/Windrix was born ca 1843 in Pennsylvania; parents unknown. His mother's first name might possibly be Margaret. David served in Co B 15th U S Infantry Regt and
Co B 33rd US Infantry Reg’t as a Teamster/Wagoner. David enlisted at age 21 on Jan 4, 1864 in Harrisburg, Dauphine Co PA under Capt. York, for a 5 year period. He was discharged in Huntsville, Madison Co AL on Jan 4, 1869 after the expiration of his service. He married Manerva Wilson 5 months later; not known how they knew each other, how they met, etc. Mutual family or friends?? David's description: Blue Eyes…Black Hair…Dark Complexion…height was 5’ 8”

Looking for proven information on William Henry Clemmons/Clemons and/or his family. I am connected to his wife, Manerva/Minerva Wilson Windrix who he married ca 1870's:
Did William H Clemmons marry first an unknown wife or was Manerva Jane Wilson Windrix his first wife? Manerva was born ca 1847 in GA. She and David Windrix were married in 1869 Jackson Co AL and had 2 children, William & Dollie. David died sometime after 1873 and Manerva later married William Henry Clemmons/Clemons. She and William Henry later had 2 sons, David Monroe & Charles/Charley Clemmons. Believe Manerva died sometime after 1883 and William Henry married Mattie Jane Brown in 1899 Jackson Co AL. Mattie Jane Brown brought one or 2 daughters?? to this marriage...Mollie M Brown and Lillie M Brown born ca 1886 & 1889. Most Ancestry family trees confuse my Manerva/Minerva Jane Wilson Windrix with the Mattie J Brown he married in 1899.
There is a lot of information on the net about William Henry and his ancestors and spouses. I don't believe that the parents most people have for William Henry is correct...think his parents were John H Clemmons and Martha Ann Glover but can't prove it.
These families later ended up in and around Creek Co OK and Tulsa OK. Trying to fill in holes for my Manerva/Minerva Wilson Windrix Clemmons. Hoping some family history has been passed down thru the years to descendants.
Anyone have proven info about these individuals? All information and/or corrections greatly appreciated.
