Seeking information regarding Manerva J Clemmons/Clemens who was first married
to a David Windrix and who lived in Jackson Co AL in 1870. David served in the
Civil War. After David Windrix's death (probably in 1870's AL) Manerva was said
to have married William H Clemmons/Clemens. Possibly married 1880's in Jackson
Co AL.
I have copies from Ancestry.Com showing Civil War Pension Files 1861-1934 in
which Manerva J is shown as widow of David Windrix. From this same file, I have
a copy showing: David Windrix, State filed: AL and under comments is shown,
William H Clemmons, Gdn. I'm assuming this means guardian? Guardian of whom or
what? Another copy of a file for David Windrix shows a heading of MINOR: 360.905
with the date of Sept 12, 1887.
I'm a novice in researching military files but I think this would indicate that
there was a WINDRIX minor (child) involved? I am unable to find anything else
regarding David Windrix and Manerva so I have no knowledge of a child/children
born to them.
Hoping, if I have the right Manerva who married William H Clemmons/Clemens, that
someone from this line will have more information regarding Manerva & David. I
believe this Manerva/Minerva J was a Wilson by birth and I am trying desperately
to find this Wilson family. If I'm correct, Manerva/Minerva Wilson Windrix
Clemmons/Clemens was a sister to my great gfather.
Walker Co & Chattooga Co GA, DeKalb Co & Jackson Co AL are all areas of
interest.
Hope someone can help. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
Paula
P.S Should I also subscribe to the Clemens list or does this list support
both spellings?
