Just a tidbit. I wouldn't limit my search to just NC. At one time NC
included what is now VA and WV. Nor would I limit the spelling to just
Clemmons. My family comes from Greenbrier County, WV(VA) with the spelling
of Clemons. Family were on the move back in the day. Just a thought.

I often wonder about my NC Clemmons connections as well. John Clemmons b
1751 is a Revolutionary War soldier from NC. He married Elizabeth Eakle in
Augusta Co VA, in 1790 and moved to Jackson County, TN where they raised at
least five children: John M, Christopher, Catherine, Elizabeth, and
Margaret. I have never been able to establish John's parentage.

Mike,
I bet that the obit from Southport, NC is part of that larger Clemmons
family that settled there -- there is a Clemmons State Forest in NC as well
as Clemmons, NC, I could never connect the dots while I lived there but I am
sure there is one - - i.e., maybe a brother or uncle of our Samuel Thomson.
Hope you are well. Bill

My Clemmons line was from Kentucky, but I don't know where, in 1812 and 18l5
when two children were born. Census records indicate they were in Virginia
before going to Kentucky. John Wesley Clemmons born 1812 in Kentucky and his
sister
Adaline was born there in l8l5. Name was spelled Clements then, but when
family moved into Missouri about l820 John spelled his name Clemmons. Denise
