Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
After getting several positive responses, I have decided to go forward with
the web site. If anyone would like to start contributing, please send me a
private email (mclemmons(a)c3-software.com). If you want to submit a GedCom,
I will remove all dates for living people before placing that data for all
to see.
I hope to have something up in a week or two.

Subject: [CLEMMONS] A Clemmons Web Site.
I wanted to get some feed back from people on the list about the possibility
of setting up a web site for this list. My thoughts on the site is that it
would go hand in hand with this mailing list. Below are some of the things
that it could contain:
-Census Records
-Photos
-Vital Statistics
- Birth Records
- Death Records
- Marriage Records
-Listings of Clemmons' who fought in the Civil War
-Family Group Sheets (see this link as an example
http://family.clemmonsconsulting.com/tree/surnames.asp)
-Family Histories
-Obits
These are just some examples that could be used on a web site.
Also, please start spreading the word about our list. The more activity we
have, the better chance we all have of finding a connection.
Let me know your thoughts.

Mike, I think it is a great idea -- so far you have generated a lot of
traffic on this site. Go for it.

Denise Dunn here on the Clemmons digest related to John Clemmons and wife by
the name of Mary. In white Co. Tenn. in l8l6 when son Charles Augustin
Clemmons was born. Older brother John Wesley Clemmons born l812 in Kentucky
and older sister Adaline Clemmons born l8l5 Kentucky. Thought to be from
around Madison Co. Kentucky but can't prove it. John Clemmons Sr. died
before l820 and Mary remarried Abraham Barger and moved to Boone Co.

I am searching for James Clemmons, born 1776 in Virginia, and Elizabeth
Clemmons, born 1776 in Virginia. They were the parents of Edwin
Clemmons, born in 1815,John H. Clemmons, born about 1815, and Mary B.
Clemmons, birthdate unknown. Anyone related to the above persons, or
has information about them, please write me, Ray Harriss, @

Especially interested in the parents of Elizabeth Clemmons.
Thanks
My Woodson D. Clemmons, was born either 1814 or 1822, Orange Co., NC. His father is believed to have been William Clemmons, b. bet 1790 & 1800, NC. Mothers name isn't known. I'm not sure where or when they left NC, but Woodson married in abt 1849 a Rebecca Reese, b. abt 1824, GA, so it is possible that the Clemmons moved to GA and that is where Woodson and Rebecca met. Not much is known before abt 1850, where Woodson & Rebecca are found in Pickens Co., Ala living near William Clemmons and his wife, Rebecca, who is too young to have been Woodsons mother. If William was Woodson's father, then it looks like he started another family. Woodson and Rebecca have 4 known children, but then she either died or left. I'm not sure which. By 1869, Woodson has remarried to a Nancy Wallace, b. abt 1848, possibly Oktibbeha Co., Ms. Her parents moved back and forth between Ms and Ala at least a couple of times. Woodson and Nancy lived in Pickens Co.,Ala until at least 1890/92 when their las!
t child was born. By 1900, they are living in Chickasaw Co., Ms. A lot of their descendants still live in or around Chickasaw Co, Ms. I am a desc. of Woodson's 2nd marriage. His 3rd son, John D. Clemons, was my great grandfather.
Would be interested in talking to anyone who might know something about these lines of Clemmons/Clemons. I think the children from the first marr. still spell their name Clemmons, but when Woodson and Nancy moved to Ms, some of their children dropped one "M". I have also found it spelled "ens", "ans", etc....

My great-grandparents were John Clemmons/Clemons and Josephine Slagle. John
Clemmons mother's name was Sarah Hall, daughter of David Hall from NC. John
siblings were: Ruth, Evans & James. This family went by the mother's maiden name
of Hall until I find the 1910 TN Census. John Hall & Josie Slagle were married in
Putnam Co., TN. I can find no records of Sarah Hall marrying a Clemmons. I
believe that at one time she was married to a Choate (Shoate) in TN but I can find
no record.
Do any of these names sound familar to anyone?
Thanks,
According to Willis B. H. and at least two believed siblings, their father
was born in VA and their mother was born in SC. Jane lived with George W.
Clemmons/Clements in Nashville in 1850 and 1860 and gave her birthplace as
SC. John Clemmons was on the 1820 census (age 26-45) in Bedford Co, TN. I
cannot really identify this family in 1830. Willis B. H. Clemens and Jane
Clemens have households in 1840 in Bedford County near each other. Willis B.
H., George W., James, Marina, and Minerva are all married and living in
Davidson County by 1850.
George W. and Marina both married into a Wright family which also has
connections with the Samuel Thompson Clemmons family.

I joined this list because my husband's ancestor, Willis B. H. Clements
(1809-1891), was sometimes referred to as Clemmons. I think this is because
he lived near the family of Samuel Thompson Clemmons (on the eastern side of
Davidson County, TN) and I have to think there is a possibility of some
connection.
I believe Willis is the son of John Clemment and Jane Pullem who were
married
in Wilson County, TN in 1808. Last summer I attended a reunion of the
Samuel
Thompson Clemmons family to find out if they claimed John Clemment and was
pleased to find they did not, as it permits me to continue to investigate
where he is Willis' father.
It also appears that George W. Clements/Clemmons, James Clements, Marina
Clements Wright and Minerva Clements Hager were children of John Clemment
and
Jane Pullem. I am in touch with a descendant of James Clements and would
like to contact descendants of the other children.

Do you know the time frame of when they moved from NJ to Virginia and then

First I'd like to say that the spelling of the last name changed along
the migration trail also. Clements .... Clemons .... Clemmons.
The family starts with John Clements born in South Carolina. He can be
found in the 1850 census in Pulaski Co. Georgia, with wife Martha & children
Archibald & Joseph J. Clements. The family moved to Dale Co. Alabama
sometime before 1860.
John was a killed during the Civil War before Jan 1863, he was with the 33rd
Alabama Regiment. The family stayed in Alabama, with fututre generations
moving to Florida, Mississippi then back to Alabama, California, Arziona &
Georgia.
Thanks

Hi to Clemmons list,
The only CLEMMONS ancestor I know anything about so far is Hannah CLEMMONS
who married John William SHIVER. John was b. abt 1734 in North Carolina, and
he and Hannah were married abt. 1760 in Kershaw County, South Carolina.
Researchers aren't even sure that Hannah's last name was CLEMMONS, in fact.
She and John produced Jacob, Abraham, William, Sarah, Elizabeth, John, James,
and Daniel SHIVER, all of whom were apparently born in either North or South
Carolina.
For more info on them, see my Rootsweb page on them at
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=debramunn&id=I...
Can anyone help connect my Hannah CLEMMONS to her ancestors?
Thanks very much!
