Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I have just posted an abstract of a Rev War pension application for John
Clemens at
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/c/l/CLEMENS/
I have copied the entire Clemons/Clements/Clemmons index from microfilm
(supplied by another researcher) and have abstracted all the applications
from southern states. I will be posting these to the site which has the same
spelling as given in the pension.
Rootsweb has websites to post any original material you have about the
Clemmons/Clements line (not from books, not copyrighted material).
I just went to
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/c/l/CLEMENT/obituaries
and posted an "obituary" for Willis Clement who died in the TN State
Penitentiary in 1833. If you do not already know about the TN Pen records, I
promise it will be worth your while to read this. The warden must have been
a genealogist--or else he wanted to know everything about the inmates, so if
they escaped he could find them.
If everyone would post all the original documents they have, a lot of folks
could make use of them.
Thanks,
Carolyn Smotherman
