Don G. Clemmer, 79, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at an Abilene medical center. Born in Callahan County, Texas at Hamby, he was the son of Jessie Bell (Windland) and Robert Edward Clemmer. He graduated from Eula High School and attended college for two years. Don married Recia Smith on March 19, 1950 in Anson, Texas. Don was yard manager for an oilfield supply company, G & L Tool Company in Andrews, Texas, and moved in 2005 from Andrews to Abilene, where he was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, his favorite pastime. His parents, six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Don is survived by his wife, Recia Clemmer of Abilene; sons, Monty Clemmer and wife, Shirley, of Midland, and Larry Clemmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Denver Chandler and wife, Aja, Latasha Aznaran and husband, Jason, and Kellye Clemmer; and two great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Aznaran and Kaden Chandler. Survivors also include a brother,!
Cloise Clemmer and wife, Molly, of Hawley; sisters, Verna Jo Gabbard of Kokomo, Indiana, and Nita Boyd of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Derrell Patterson and Tim Palmer officiating.
