INDEPENDENCE -- Gladys Clemmer, 76 of Independence died Friday in
Mercy Hospital. She and her husband, Earl Clemmer had owned and
operated Earl's Produce House from 1939 until 1962 when they retired.
He survives at the home.
Born Oct. 28, 1897 at Elk City, she was the daughter of John and
Jane Beard Shaffer. She was married May 28, 1918 at Independence.
In addition to the widower, she is survived by a son, Kenneth; a
daughter, Doris Schaid; a brother, A. B. Shaffer, all of Independence
and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm. Monday in the Rodrick Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

WILLIAM CLEMMER William S. Clemmer, age 88, of Souderton, died at the
Lutheran Community at Telford, Sept. 13, 2005. He was the husband of
E. Marie (Crouthamel) Clemmer, also of the Lutheran Community. The
Clemmers would have been married 68 years next month. The couple lived
in Pinellas Park, FL, from 1982 to 2000. Upon their return, they moved
to the Lutheran Community at Telford. Born in Hilltown Twp., he was
the son of the late Elmer B. and Florence (Snyder) Clemmer. Mr.
Clemmer was a machinist for the former Hanson Textile Co. in Hatfield,
from where he retired in 1982. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran
Church in Souderton. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, bowling and golf.
While living in Florida, the Clemmers delivered Meals on Wheels. In
addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Linda M. Hagey
and her husband, Donald S., of Franconia Twp.; two grandchildren,
Tanya Hekler and Jesse Hagey; one great-granddaughter, Skylar Hekler;
and a sister, Doris Petrolina of Conshohocken. He was preceded in
death by his brother Earl. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
his memorial service Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10 AM, at the Lutheran
Community at Telford, 235 N. Washington St., Telford, PA 18969, where
the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 AM. Interment will be
private. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Mr.
Clemmers name to the Lutheran Community at Telford at the above
address. Arrangements are by the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home
in Franconia.
