Clifford Hoyt Clemmer, 47, an assembly-line worker, died Tuesday, May
20, 2003, at a Fort Worth Hospital.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Friday in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Clifford was born March 20, 1956, in Jacksonville, Fla. He served in
the U.S. Navy from 1975-1983. He had lived in Stephenville since 1983.
Survivors: Parents, Ed and Daphna Clemmer; sister and brother-in-law,
Aletta and Eddie Halbert; brothers and sister-in-law, Bill Clemmer,
Ricky Clemmer and Randy and Patty Clemmer, all of Stephenville; and
grandmothers, Mattie Lancaster of Bangs, Aletta Gooch of Stephenville
and Juanita Clemmer of San Angelo.

IOWA CITY -- Barbara Clymer Hubbard, 69, of Bickford
Cottage, Iowa City, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in
Mercy Iowa City following a lengthy illness. Barbara
chose to be cremated.
Friends will gather to share memories from 1 to 2:30
p.m. Saturday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service,
Iowa City. A celebration of Barbara's life will then
be held at 2:30 p.m. at Lensing's.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The U
of I Foundation or The Iowa City Public Library.
Barbara was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Denver, Colo., the
daughter of Al and Blanche Ritter Clymer. She was
raised in Denver and Iowa City and in 1952 graduated
from Iowa City High School. Barbara received a B.A. in
English, an M.A. in theatre arts and an M.F.A. in both
theatre and literature, all from the University of
Iowa.
Barbara was a teacher and drama director at West
Liberty High School for 26 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a past member of Iowa City Pilot Club.
Her parents died earlier.

Opal V. (Rigdon) Climer
1922 - 2004
Opal Virginia (Rigdon) Climer, 81, of Longview, died Feb. 17, 2004.
She was born April 23, 1922, in Tuckasegee, N.C., and moved to the
local area from Sylvia, N.C., in 1938.
Mrs. Climer is survived by her husband, Cleston Climer; two daughters,
Mary Lou Sanchez and Sandra Shaw; two sisters, Lenora Patch and Hazel
Shuss; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of
Columbia Funeral Service. Private interment will take place at
Longview Memorial Park.

To Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Married-At the residence of the bride's parents, June
6th, 1882, Mr. Clyde McMASTER to Miss Nettie
CLEMMER, of this city. The happy couple left on the
noon train for Atchison, where they will
remain a short time visiting friends. We wish them all
sorts of good luck, and may their lives be as
tranquil, bright and beautiful as the perfect June day
on which they were made husband and wife by
Rev. W.W. CURTIS, pastor of the Presbyterian church,
performed the ceremony.
The above paragraph appeared in the Osage City Free
Press, June 8, 1882, and is in the possession
of Mrs. McMASTER.
Next Monday, June 6, Mr. and Mrs. McMASTER are
extending a cordial invitation to their friends of
this community to help celebrate their fiftieth
wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. McMASTER will be at home to their friends
from 2:00 to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon
and from 7:30 to 10:00 in the evening.
This highly respected couple are perhaps as well known
as any couple in the community and number
their friends by their acquaintances. Mrs. McMASTER
was born in Dayton, O., and with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. D.M. CLEMMER, came to this couty in 1873,
locating on a farm near the Dragoon, north
of this town. She remembers seeing the first engine
and coal cars pass over the Santa Fe tracks
from Topeka to Osage City. Mr. McMASTER was born in
Luana, Iowa., and came with his parents here in
1870 settling south of Osage City.
When the bridal couple returned from their trip a few
days after their wedding on June 6, 1882,
they were given a large reception at the home of the
bridegroom's parents, south of town. After
farming for almost eighteen years, Mr. McMASTER was
appointed the second rural letter carrier fo this
county, his route being from the Osage City office. He
continued in this service until he retired
December 15, 1926. Mr. McMASTER's first route was 25
miles long, three miles east to the Jersey
Creek road, nine and one-half miles south to the
Woodbury ranch, three miles west of the Seymour
Morton farm and north into Osage City. Eighty-four
famioies were served on the route. His father,
H.H. McMASTER was the first substitute carrier, Ed.
CHEASBRO, second and his wife third, who served
for over fifteen years.
Among the first patrons on his route thirty-two years

Mr. McMASTER has the distinction of having the first
automobile in Osage City. It was an auto
buggy type and covered his mail route with it for few
years. However Mr. McMASTER kept a team of
horses for a few years to use in bad weather.
Mrs. McMASTER is a very capable woman in her home, in
business and many other ways. The McMASTERS
have one daughter, Mrs. L.W. SILVEN of this city.
Orville their only son, died several years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. McMASTER have a nice comfortable home,
located at the corner of Eighth and Ellinwood
streets and where they also operate a large chicken
hatchery. About twelve years ago they began
the business of raising chickens and each year added
to their equipment until now they have one of
the largest in the county.
The Osage City Free Press extends congratulations to
them.

Lottie Clemmer
1910-2000
SILVERTON - Lottie Lucille Clemmer, a former resident of Scurry
County, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Lockney.
Funeral service for Mrs. Clemmer, 90, is set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in
the First Baptist Church in Silverton. The Rev. Randy Mullin will
officiate. Burial will follow in the Silverton Cemetery.
Born May 29, 1910 in Young County, she married James R. Clemmer on
Oct. 10,1926 in Scurry County. He died in 1983.
The Clemmers moved to Briscoe County in 1935 and to Silverton in 1936.
She had worked as a nurse, kindergarten teacher and school lunchroom
worker, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist
church.
Survivors include a daughter, Roma Swindel of Plainview; three sons,
Milton Clemmer of Napa, Calif., Buford Clemmer of Upland, Calif., and
James Clemmer of Silverton; a brother, Don Jones of May; two sisters,
Katherine Moore of Hamlin and Betty Galaway of Abilene; nine
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Tanya Marie Clemmer
At the age of 39, Tanya passed away February 12, 2004. Survived by her
husband, David Clemmer, and 3 children, Zachary, Nicole and Ashley;
her father and stepmother, George and Joelene Capestany; and her
mother and stepfather, Rose Capestany and Robert Houston; her brothers
and sister, George, Eric, Mathew and Theresa; her mother-in-law,
Georgine Clemmer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Tanya grew up in Tacoma and Seattle, making many long-term friendships
wherever she lived. She was very active in the care of her children
and church, Calvary Fellowship of Mountlake Terrace.
Memorial services will be held at Calvary Fellowship Church, 23302
56th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be designated to Zachary Clemmer Care Fund, Sound
Community Bank, 19009 33rd Ave. West, Suite #200, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

The Mainland Hotel and 26 acres and 102 perches of land, situated

sheriff's sale on Wednesday, February 24, as the property of John M.
CLEMMER, debt $3823, to Albert BROMER, of Schwenksville, for $100.

We acknowledge receipt of cards from Algona, Iowa announcing the
marriage of J. H. Duerst and Letha Clemmer both of Monroe. Mr. Duerst
is a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Duerst of this town. He has been for some
years a cashier in the Citizen's Bank of Monroe. He is one of the
promising and substantial citizens of Monroe. The bride is the
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Clemmer and well known here
having been some years ago a stenographer at the First National Bank.
Mr. and Mrs. Duerst will be home to their friends at 603 Payne
Street, Monroe, after June 4.
