Hal, Lenny & I looked at this Valentine Clemmer. He was in Philadelphia
Militia, not York Co/Littlestown as was Lorentz Clemmer. There was also a
settlement 1787 with a Margaret Clemmer. All wide open for original
research. ----Charles

Hi Leon,
From my calculations you are my 1st cousin once removed?
I would be thrilled and delighted to learn anything that you can share with
me as I am very interested in our history and have tried to tie every little
thread of information together that I can. I would love to know more
I have some photos that maybe you would like to take a look at... I will
email separately with description.
Sincerely,

Dear Christina,
The Clemmers in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia are from the
Clemmer family of York Co., PA. George Clemmer and wife and family moved
down to Virginia in the 1780's. George was the youngest of the four sons
of Johann Ludwig Clemmer.
The oldest son, Jacob Casper, moved to Fayette Co., PA; the
second son, George Valentine, died in York Co., PA in 1785; the third
son, Lawrence, moved to Allegany Co., MD where he died in 1808. One of
Lawrence's sons, Lewis, moved to Fayette Co., PA, where his cousins
lived.
After George Valentine's death, his widow and the five children
moved to NC, where we believe she had brothers living. After first
settling in Rowan Co. (now Davie), they later moved to Lincoln Co. (now
Gaston), where many of the descendants still live. George Valentine had
three sons, two of whom, George and Lewis, remained in Lincoln Co., while
John, in the 1820's, moved to eastern Tennessee.
Perhaps someone on the list will provide the website which gives
much more info about this Clemmer family.
