George,
If Nancy E. Carothers and James Thomas Curry are you immediate grandparents,
then
they are my great great grandparents. Nancy and James had a daughter, Lona Mae
Curry who married John Larken Clemmer, which was Lona's second marriage. They
had Ora Madgeline Clemmer, J.D. Clemmer and Anne Clemmer. Ora "Madge" married
Leroy Peavy and they had three girls, Eunice Faye Peavy, (my mom), Nancy Jean
Peavy and Vickie Charlene Peavy. I guess we're third cousins. I'm having
trouble with
John Larken's side and also with my grandfather Leroy Peavy.
Any way, it's nice to hear from another cousin.
Regards,
Marlaina Carmichael

Subject: [IADECATU] FRANK SELLERS ARRESTED ON SERIOUS CHARGE.
Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa
Thursday, July 9, l903
An information was filed before Justice C.W. Beck last Friday by MRS. JENNIE
CLIMER, of Burrell Township, charging FRANK SELLERS, a well known young farmer
living with his parents in the same neighborhood, with having committed rape
upon her
daughter, EDITH CLIMER, a girl between fourteen and fifteen years of age, it
being
alleged the crime took place on or about the 7th day of May, near her home.
Just why
the information was not filed before is not known. A warrant was placed into
the
hands of Marshal Chandler, who went to Decatur City on Saturday and arrested
SELLERS, bringing him over to Leon. SELLERS retained Hoffman & Jackson as his
attorneys, and entered a plea of "not guilty" denying the charge in an emphatic
manner. He is a young man of exceptional good reputation and claims it is
simply a
black-mailing scheme. The preliminary examination was continued until Tuesday,
July
l4th, the accused being released in the meantime on $5,000 bonds, which he had
no
trouble i!
n giving with his father, W.H. Lloyd and W.H. Colter as sureties.

Subject: [IADECATU] CLYMER-FULTON MARRIAGE
Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa
Thursday, February 5, l903
Ground Hog Day was celebrated at the Clerk's office yesterday by the marriage
of O.J.
WILBUR CLYMER and MISS CECIL BELLE FULTON, both of Decatur City. Justice
J.N. Lineburg officiating. When the ceremony was over Clerk Stranahan
proclaimed
that all residents of other States who were present were entitled to kiss the
bride. The
provision was made for the benefit of L.P. Elsmer, the New York broker who has
been
here on land business for the past few days. Mr. Elsmer was about to avail
himself of
this privilege when he happened to wonder what his wife would think about it,
so he
contented himself by giving the bride a wedding present in the shape of a brand
new
$l.00 bill.
