Hi,
I have had some updates on my story, but still no concrete evidence to
support theory that Elizabeth Clemmer Detherow and John Detherow, Jr.
were my boys parents.
To refresh your memory: I am still looking for any info on Elizabeth
Clemmer Detherow, who married her first cousin, John Detherow (1st son
of Johann Dettero/Mary Hoffman). After Elizabeth's drowned in 1827, does
anyone have anything on a 2nd marriage for John? I know that we have
had a discussion regarding whether the Elizabeth Clemmer Detherow who
drowned, was the daughter of Felty Clemmer, because of the marriage
date. Sorry, but I am still totally confused. (Are you saying that the
Elizabeth Clemmer (Detherow) who drowned, was not the wife of John
Detherow, Jr.?) All I am searching for is a woman who married a
Detherow, and drowned, and he remarries. Mother has to have drowned
after 1826. The circumstances and date of drowning matches for
Elizabeth, but still can't find anything concrete.
Am still trying to fit bits and pieces together. I have had some update
on the story, so here is the latest on my story: I have 3 boys (Eli,
b1825-26; David, b1825; and Joseph, b1820) whose mother drowned. This is
in Tennessee. After she drowned, father remarried. When father died,
stepmother sent the three boys away, story goes because she had
offspring from the boys' father. Stepmother didn't want the 3 boys
around. One (Eli) was sent to be raised by an old doctor (possibly an
uncle) and 2 to live with an uncle in MS. Time of boys separation is
around 1838-1840.
(NOTE: The boys were NOT orphaned as first thought!)
Does any of this sound familiar? And if the story doesn't pertain to
Elizabeth but is still familiar about mother drowning, would be very
interested in what names anyone might have.
I have quite a bit of the info about the family, as well as some on
Balzar Dettero, brother of Johann. But, my "boys" aren't listed that I
can tell (there are some ELIs, DAVIDs, but haven't located a Joseph) and
they aren't mentioned in the OUR KIN book.
On an additional note: I have also just had a contact who has the names
of Johann Dettero's PARENTS and 7 of his siblings who landed in PA in
early 1700s. She will be sending me that info hopefully within the next
week. I know the story goes that Johann Dettero came over as a boy
servant, but would not explain his brother Baltzar being here nor his
sister, Margareta Dettero Clemmer.
Honestly, if I wasn't descended from one (Eli), I'd never know the 3
boys existed.
Thanks for any help, AGAIN!!

Subject: [Pafayett-L] Mennonite Cemetery/ Johnson Farm
Robert earlier sent the information to the list about the DAR's survey of
the "Mennonite Cemetery." I am now convinced that this is the same
cemetery that has been known in our family as the "old Johnson farm" in
Nicholson Twp. No where in any of the records is mentioned that this
cemetery was connected to a church, so I believe that it was merely a family
cemetery, which, because they were Mennonites, came to be known as a
Mennonite cemetery. I had also seen this referred to as the "Mennonite
cemetery above Jacobs Creek."
Here is Robert's information [in brackets] and my interpretation of the
people buried there.

Hello,
I am tracing the Clymer family from Noble Cnty, Ohio. John Clymer b.1777 in
NJ lived and died in Noble Cnty. He married Mary Corwin in NJ Apr.,1802.
Their children were William, Charles, Martha, Jane, and Albert A. John is
my
gr gr gr grandfather. Albert A. is my gr gr grandfather and Albert's son
Charles is my gr grandfather and Charles' son (by his first wife Eva
McDonald--buried in Dexter City Cemetery) Forrest McDonald Clymer is my
grandfather.
Does anyone know who John Clymer's parents were? Also, Charles Clymer
remarried after Eva's death a Mary Johnson. Does anyone know where he is
buried and when they died.
I am heading to southern Ohio the third week of June to gather information
and check out cemeteries. I would appreciate any information as soon as
possible. I live in FL. so I don't get back very often.
Thank you,
Linda Clymer Ellis
