Thanks for your reply. Rush Creek Township is in Fairfield County, Ohio.
Thanks for the run down on your family. I did contact a few years ago by
mail a Klemmer or Clemmer living in Colorado...never received an answer.
Could have been one of yours.

Dorothy,
To answer your location question: John and Magdalene's son, John, married Rebecca Wiles Brown. They must have moved to West Virginia,
because the first three of their children (including my great-grandfather, Cornelius Jasper Clemmer) were born in Dodridge Co. W. VA. Their
fourth child, Frank, was born in Marion Co. Ohio. Their fifth, sixth, and seventh children, Melissa Magdalen Clemmer, John Monroe Clemmer,
and Emma Katherine Clemmer, were born in Champagne Co. Ohio. Their eight, ninth, and tenth children, Mary Jane Clemmer, Charles Leslie
Clemmer, and Ella May Clemmer, were born in Warren County, Illinois.
At one time Cornelius and his children (and possibly others?) were all gathered in Colorado (Denver 1920 census lists Urban, for example),
and then they started to move to Los Angeles, where their daughter, Hazel, met my grandfather, CHarles Henry Pierce (another family line I
am researching)
Does this help? What county is Rush Creek, Ohio in?
Marina.

Dorothy,
Wow! This is a spot I have been stuck at for decades! Though to be honest, I wasn't trying too hard to research it for a while. All right, I
will admit right now to being rather desultory and greatly a dilettante about researching my family tree, relying almost entirely on family
recollections and records, instead of writing off as I should for other records. :-) Until I recently discovered all the wonderful resources
on the Web!
Okay, here is what I have. Mostly, my information comes from some unknown family member(s) who researched a lot of this (census records,
birth records, etc.) many decades ago and passed on only the results. Some of it I have in the handwriting of my great-aunt Lucy Clemmer.
:-) Etc.
I have John as being born on May 12, 1794 in Pennsylvania to a father Jacob (born Feb. 12, 1766 according to my records), no mother's name
recorded. On December 16, 1816, he married Magdalene Honsaker (Hunsaker), who was born on October 27, 1794 in Pennsylvania and died in 1869.
Magdalene's parents were Nicholas Honsaker (b. Feb. 6, 1757 in E Manchester Twp, York, PA) and Catherine Snyder (Snider), b. May 15, 1758
in Hagerstown, Maryland. Nicholas and Catherine were married on March 6, 1790. Nicholas's mother was Magdalena Beery, daughter of Nicholas
Beery and Barbara Miller. Etc. (more at my Web site.)
I don't have any other locations for John and Magdalene. John and Magdalene's children were all born in Pennsylvania (county unknown)
according to my family records. (Except that I have nothing on the birth location of their oldest son, James.) I only have five children
recorded for them; either they exercised remarkable restraint, were less fertile than usual , didn't like each other much, or I am missing
some children. :-)
You can view most of this information at my Web site (http://www.thelighthouseonline.com/marian/genealogy/index.html).
So, do you know for a fact that John is the son of Jacob and Anna? What records do you have that show it? I would love to make this
connection and take it further back, but despite my lighthearted comments at the start of this message, I have actually been very
conservative about entering data into my family tree, only entering it if I have a very high degree of confidence in the data.

Any Minnesota Clemmer recognize this branch <<Subj: Klemmer, Klemmor Date:

Hello Mr. Hite, I was interested in your web page on the clemmer and
klemmer family name. My grandfather was named Walter Charles Klemmor. My un
rstanding is that he was of French/German ancestry, born some where in
Minnesota and raised as an orphan by another family, keeping his name of
Klemmor. I have not been able to ever find another Klemmor anywhere, even on
the net. The speculation is th
the family did not spell his name correctly and it was perhaps Klemmer, not
Klemmor. He was born in about 1895 or so and died in the early 70's. He was
about 5' 9", average build with grey eyes. He worked most of his life as a
plumber-pipe fitter fo
Associated Oil. My mother was his only child. I would very much appreciate
any thooughts or information you may have. Take care, Bill Condley>>

my early on Montco and Bucks Co Clemmers :
CHRISTIAN CLEMMER 1697?-1759?
This particular branch of the Clemmer family can be reliably documented
back to Christian Clymer of Lower Mllford Township, Bucks Co. His wife's
name was Barbara who died not long before 4/3/1761. Their children were
(as of 1761):
Christian Clymer of Springfield m. Catharine
Jacob m. Esther
John
Henry
Magdalena m. Peter Mayer
Anna m. John Barkey
Elizabeth m. Conrad Kelly
Esther
Catharine m. Isaac Rinker
Martin Clymer
Scattered bits of information about the early Clemmers in
Bucks Co.
mention Christian Clemmer, John Jacob Klemmer, and Valentine Clemmer. In
1730-31 Jacob Clemmer of Richland, Jacob Sauder, Phillip Keisinger,
George Bachman, and John Drissel petitioned the assembly to be
naturalized. Also ln 1730, thirty-two lnhabitants of "Rich lands"
petitioned for a road from the new meeting house to the county line in
order to go to Philadelphia by the Montgomery road. John Jacob Klemmer
was among those who signed. A petition was presented to the legislature
from inhabitants of Bucks Co. ln 1734 stating that they were petitioners
from Germany who, having purchased lands, desired naturalization so that
they may hold same and transmit them to their children. It was signed by
Christian Clemmer and John Jacob Clemmer, among others. On 6/13/1734,
those living between the county line and the section about to be laid
out as Richland, petitioned the court to erect the area they inhabited
into a township. This led to the formation of Lower Milford (later
Milford) Twp., Bucks. Co. Sixty-two names appeared on the petition,
including that of Clymer. Finally, John Klemmer is listed as a land
owner in Rlchland Twp.
CHRISTIAN CLEMMER
On 6/29/1741, Christian Clemmer of Lower Mllford Twp. bought 315 acres
of land in Rockhill Twp. along the northeast branch of the Perkiomen
Creek (Bucks DB 23,238). This Christian Clemmer later died intestate and
on 4/3/1761 his wldow, Barbara, and nine sons and daughters sold their
shares ln the tract to the eldest son, Martin (Bucks DB 22,206). This
tract of 315 acres on the south side of Sellereville remained in the
family for at least three generations. It is located between the
southern bank of the northeast branch of the Perkiomen Creek and the
present day Clymer Are. In 1928 parts of lt were dlvlded into building
lots. (Bucks OC 825). The area was once known as Clymerville but has
since been absorbed by residential Sellersvllle.
MARTIN CLEMMER ( CLYMER ) 2/23/1752- 5/12/1820
Martin's name appears on the Rockhill Twp tax for the year 1779.
He is
assessed for 300 acres (acreage was often rounded off) with his eldest
son, Jacob, appearing next to his father, is credited with one horse and
no land. They are the only Clymers listed under Rockhill Twp. By 1781,
Martin had begun helping Jacob get started on his own, for Martin
(or Matthew) is listed with 200 and Jacob with 100 acres. The following
year Christian Clemmer appears on the 1ist of taxable single men in
Rockhill Twp. It remains so until 1785 when Martin disappears and
Christian and Abraham take his place with 100 and 70 acres respectively.
Martin had died. In December, 1784, sons Jacob and Chrlstlan, the
administrator , petitioned the Orphans Court for an audit of the estate.
The opinion of the court, handed down on 9/12/1785. was that the tract
of 324 acres could not be divided among the 11 children Òwithout
prejudice or spoiling the whole.. Therefore, on 12/12/1785, eldest son
Jacob bought out the share of each of his brothers and sisters in the
farm. These were
Christian and Abraham - who was ln his minority and had petitioned for
a guardian

Ò. Actually there was conscription through the land. The 4th Regiment,
made up of Philadelphia County residents lists four of our namesakes.
4th class private John Clemmer, 6th class private Henry Clemmer were in
Capt John CopesÕ 5th Battalion 1781 - 1783 . Also listed in various
reports are Valentine, John and Henry Jr. On the official report Pa.
Archives Vol. XII Alphabetical list of Revolutionary Soldiers are the
names Jacob and Henry Clymer. None saw action. There is one story of the
meeting of regimentals overtaking a Clemmer driving his ox cart. The
regimentals were to join Washington at Trenton. The Clemmer was
conscripted with his oxen and cart. He very presently deserted his
charge, left the oxen and his cart and returned home. So much for the revolution.

Hi, all. I just got back from the F.H.C. in Salt Lake researching my
Clemmer line. I, too have been stuck on Jacob Clemmer. On the VA 1850
census in Doddridge Co I found John & Magadalene Clemmer living next to
James & Elizabeth Clemmer. Their ages are right for James to be John's
son. I have the descendancy from James and Elizabeth but am still trying
to tie John to Jacob.
Thanks Marina & Dorothy for your exciting email. Looking forward to any
more clues. Patricia

Hello everyone. I am stuck at an ancestor named Jacob Clemmer. I don't know if he belongs to a "missing" Clemmer line, or if my data is just
insufficient to connect him to an existing one. Here are two possibilities:
1. This is the same Jacob Clemmer who is elsewhere recorded as being born in December 1766, and who married Ann BLOSSER. In that case,
there is at least one child (my direct ancestor) who is not listed in any of the family trees for that Jacob.
2. This is another Jacob Clemmer, born the same year and probably closely related, however, since the Clemmers and Hunsakers and Rhoads all
seemed to have intermarried a lot, and my line has lots of all of those. :-)
Here is what I have about Jacob.
Jacob CLEMMER, b. 12 FEB 1766 in Pennsylvania.
Jacob had a son, John CLEMMER, b. 12 May 1794 in PA, d. 16 Dec 1816. John married Magdalene HONSAKER (HUNSAKER/HUNSEKER), daughter of
Nicholas HONSAKER (b. 6 Feb 1757, d. 6 Mar 1790) and Catherine SNYDER (b. 15 May 1758). (Nicholas' parents were Johannes HUNSAKER and
Magdalena BEERY (PIERI/BIERI); I have more on them.)
John and Magdalene's children were:
James, b. 1825
Catherine, b. 13 Sep. 1829
Susan, b. Sep. 1832
John, b. 18 Apr. 1835 in Emerson, Iowa, m. Rebecca Wiles BROWN (daughter of John BROWN and Mary TIGERT) on 3 May 1857, d. 3 Apr. 1892
Martha, b. 2 Sep. 1836
John and Rebecca's children were
Cornelius Jasper CLEMMER, b. October 21, 1858, who on September 21, 1882 married Alice Deborah PACE (b. March 4, 1860). I have all their
children (Marion, Urban, Kathryn, Hazel--my grandmother, Volly, and Jasper)
Cornelius's siblings were James, Jeremiah, Frank, Melissa, John, Emma, Mary Jane, Charles, and Ella; I have birthdates etc. for all of them,
bur this should be sufficient information to tell if there is a link. (I hope.)
Please help!

Dear Dorothy,
The negatives arrived in the mail today. Thank you! Will take
them to a very good local photo service, and then return them to you.
Could answer some of Carol Hackney's questions, but not all.
The location of Chief Will's village is thought to be along Will's Creek
about five miles from where we live, but in an area being quarried now.
Have never seen the account of the Clemmer family written by
Joseph Neal Clemmer. Could you send a copy of that?
I've learned that I may be descended from a Neill family in NC,
while a friend has Neal descent on the NC-SC border.
