Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Since my original question had to do with if anyone would be interested
in the service enough for me to work out the details and cost, I'll take
Mary's comment as one for 'Yes, provided the price is right'. Since I wasn't
really expecting to make a whole lot off of this, I'm sure that it'll
compare favorably to whoever out there is doing the same thing.
Anyway, it's obvious that you can get a scanner and scan photos as Mr.
Awald has offered to do, the real service would be for the convenience of
turning large photo albums into CD-ROMs. It's tedious and time consuming
work!
I'll just ask once more for votes of interest to my own e-mail address,
not to the list, as I'm sure somebody out there is irked at the handling of
borderline commercial interests on this genealogy list. BTW: Your expression
of interest won't be taken as a promise of business.

Yippee !!!
Finally the connection I've been looking for ! I to am interested in Andrew
Clemmer and his son Jacob. I have quite a bit of information about Jacob's
wife Hannah Baird. To me the most important is to prove who Andrew's
siblings and parents are. I have a wedding certificate that indicates that
Jacob's father and mother were Andrew and Maria Clemmer. I also have lots
of photos of these folks both in Green County WI and Ponca City. Jacob and
Hanna's daughter May Clemmer Smoykefer is my grandmother-in-law.
Let's talk !! I need an email address and mailing address for PDTactics,
GW.

So glad to hear from you. I know some about that part of the Clemmer family. I
will be sending the photos to Danny Clemmer, and he said that he would be
taking orders from whoever wants the pictures. There is a picture of Jacob,
Jasper, Jasper's wife Delilah Neal, and Minerva Clemmer, dau of Jasper. Danny
can be reached at dlcict(a)worldnet.att.net I would sure like to know more
about the descendants of your Andrew Clemmer, bro of Jasper. You probably
know there are still many Clemmers in Fayette County, Pa. Jasper had a ferry
boat over the Susquehanna before he left for Wisconsin. D
Hello. I do not have any information on the Chryst family but I am interested
in the photographs that you have. My name is Gordon W. Clemmer Jr. and Jacob
Clemmer is in my direct line of grandfathers. I am a descendent of his son
Andrew the brother of Jasper. The oldest photo I have is of Jacob Clemmer
(1836 - 1917) of Ponca City Oklahoma. The photo was taken sometime around the
turn of the century. This Jacob was the son of Andrew and apparently named
after his Grandfather. If we could make arrangements to get a copy of the
photo, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
G.W. Clemmer

To the best of my knowledge, I have no Clymer relatives that lived in
Wisconsin. The only pictures I personally own is of Hulday Clymer Havens and
her grown children. This was in and around Elwood, Indiana.
Sounds like an interesting project. Sorry I'm not part of that line of

I will check with my mother-in-law, Marie Clemmer, and see what pictures she has besides those of
her parents John F. Clemmer b. Oct. 1, 1874 in Greenbay Co., Wisconsin and Marie Landry b. Dec
19, 1884 in Bayou Goula, LA. Can you give me a list of the pictures you have so I may give them
to her (Marie Clemmer).
I can scan the good pictures (she has had them restored) and see if these are good enough
quality.

I've been kicking an idea around for a moonlighting business and that
last question prompted me to ask the fellow Clemmers for some input. How
many of you would be interested in a service that would scan photos or
entire albums, one photo at a time, touch them up a bit for color, contrast,
background and such, and write them onto an CD-ROM as a photo album?
I first thought about it when I saw my mother pull out an album that
hadn't been opened in years and some of the pictures weren't mounted
properly and had stuck together. Also, some were fading and would soon be
illegible. This struck me as a monumental and unnecessary waste since
technology allows pictures to be stored for a very long time in a file. A
computer file can't fade, and CD-ROMs are easily copied for safekeeping or
gifting, whatever. (BTW: CD-ROMs don't last forever, but the better ones are
supposed to last for 25 years or so. But by then, CD-ROM technology will
have been replaced. I guess that's one drawback to going digital.)
The service I was thinking of would include software for viewing and
such with any genealogy data that you provide entered into a database record
and linked to each picture, or possibly just have the data and photo file
importable to the more common genealogy applications. The cost would be per
photo, and the scanning resolution would be whatever is ideal for either
slide-show style viewing on the monitor, or printing out on an HP Paintjet
or Epson Stylus type inkjet printer, or maybe even scanned twice, once for
viewing and once for printing. I never got around to working out the
details.
P.S. Don't worry, I'm not so silly as to believe that I'm the first to
think of this, but since the question was asked about scanning, it struck me
that there might still be the need.
Wayne Clemmer
Pearland, TX
Dorothy,
I have the technology to put the photos on line AND I have information on
the Chryst line in Green County. I think I got my information from Marion
Logsdon in Utah.
If you'd be willing to share your photos with me, I'd be glad to post them
to anyone who wants one. We have three options:
Option 1. Send me the originals and I can make copies. (Not a great idea
-- the postoffice loses things)
Option 2. Take them to a local photography store and have copies made.
They can make digital copies at the same time as they are making REAL
photographs. (good idea with exception of expense)
Option 3. (archivally this one isn't as good) Take them to a high quality
photocopier -- Kinkos or like them -- and have COLOR photocopy enlargements
made. "Sometimes" these turn out better than the original but not very
often. (Cheaper but not as archival)
If your photo store can't make digital copies, send me the copy prints and I
can make the digitals and send them around. No matter what, I would love to
have real photographic copies of your Clemmers in Green County, WI and
anyone in Fayette County, PA. I would be happy to pay for the copies too.

Dear John: Thanks for your email message. I shall get two copies of each
made, and send a batch to you, and a batch to Danny Clemmer to put on the Web.
I have all of Marion Logsdon's material since I supplied it to her. Doubt if
she has anything new. Thanks for including you address. D.

Happy New Year, fellow researchers. It's time to renew my query once
again for my Clymer/Clemmer/Klemmer roots.
If you don't mind, the background briefly:
My g-g-g grandmother was Eva Clymer, probably from Pennsylvania (as all
my ancestors are from there.) I was always told that Eva was descended
from George the Signer. (I really don't think that is the case, as all
George's descendants retained blue blood. That doesn't describe my
family.)
Eva was probably born 1800 to 1810, but that's based only on the ages
of succeeding generations. She married John Finkle (or Finckle or
Fenicle or Fenical) and bore my g-g grandmother Susan. All I can say to
place of origin is that her daughter Susan first appears in the 1860
census in Mifflin County PA as the wife of Able Fowler. Supposedly
Susan was from Centre County PA, but I can't verify that. Her husband
(Able Fowler) was supposedly from Perry County PA, but I can't verify
that, either. So I am pursuing all surnames involved, hoping to trace
this line.
Does anyone come up with an Eva Clymer/Climer/Clemmer/Klemmer in
Pennsylvania during that period?
As always, best regards, happy New Year, and thanks for the help!!
