Has a proven descendant from this lineage taken the Family Tree DNA Clements
test? If so, please let me know what his first 12 DNA Markers were? My
brother M. L. Clements has taken the test and we have a couple of matches but
can not get our out of Georgia for sure (past births of 1812). Virginia

Jane,
I have the same seven children listed for Samuel Clements and Eleanor Berry
that you do, and most of that information came from the Clements-Spaulding
book. I do have lots of documentation on Walter, their eldest son, as he is
my direct ancestor. Also have Samuel Clements (the 4th son) married to
Susanna Thomas and have some documentation on them.

Reportedly from the Clements-Spaulding and Allied Families by JWY Clements,
a lawyer, Samuel and Eleanor Berry had seven children:
Walter, Mary Ellen, Margaret, Samuel, Edward, Richard and Theresa.
(Note: I have not read, nor do I have a copy of that book).
Can anyone agree or dispute that these ARE the names of the children and are
there any dates of birth and places for them?
Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely,
Jane

Am seeking information on my husband's great grandfather, Judson Clements,
born about 1815 - 1825 in Maryland. He is enumerated in the 1850-1870 census
in Charles Co, MD and in 1880 in Prince George's County, MD. His wife is
enumerated as Susanna/Susan. Would like information on his ancestors and the
maiden name and family of his wife. My husband descends from Judson as
follows Judson>John>John Malcolm>John Paul (my husband).
Any information would be appreciated.

I have a Samuel Clements m. Eleanor Berry, but none that married Elizabeth
Berry. I show him as the son of Henry Clements m. Clara _____. Samuel
Clements and Eleanor Berry had a son Samuel Clements b. 1797 who married
Susan Thomas.
I would be very interested in your info, as this Samuel is my line, and I do
not show them connected to the John and Elizabeth Plunkett Clements line
yet. I do show John and Elizabeth Plunkett Clements with a son Samuel, but
I have that Samuel married to Elinor McAtee b 1685. My info may be
incorrect.

I do not know his occupation, or if he had a son Mace. I show these notes.
I have info on his ancestors if this turns out to be your John Clements,
they are well documented back several generations to England:
1. John Clements*1, born Abt. 1647. He was the son of 2. Francis Clements*
Jr. and 3. Elizabeth Merriweather*. He married (1) Elizabeth Plunkett*1.
She was born Abt. 1671.
Notes for John Clements*:
John Clements married Elizabeth Plunkett. Around 1710 John moved his family
to Charles County, Maryland. He was joined there about a year later by a
first cousin (William). William returned to Virginia (Amelia County) but
John stayed in Charles County, Maryland until his death. In 1721, he made
land transferrals to his sons Samuel, Joseph, Edward, John, Jacob and
William. (Deed Book 3, pp. 81-85)
To my knowledge, a will has never been found for John. It was a custom in
those days to leave land to "sons only." John and Elizabeth probably had
some daughters, but all I know is the name of the sons. I think William
Clements/Mary Hanson raised their family on the same land that John gave to
William in 1721, but I haven't pursued the land records any further.

Sources for the family include:

"Burgesses and Other Prominent Persons", p. 213
Last Will & Testament of Nicholas Meriwether, probated July 22, 1710 in
James City County, Virginia
Records of Bruton Parish Church, Williamsburg, Virginia.
Was your John Clements a doctor? Did he have a son called Mace who was also
a doctor?

Are your Clements associated with John or Mace from Virginia, circa 1650? By
undergoing DNA testing I have found a connection, albeit an ancient one,
between myself and these men.

Does anyone have an "Alexander Clements" in their line who was listed in the
1859 City Directory of Louisville, KY? He was a boarder, occup. chair
maker, living in the same place (address) with my GG and Gr-Grandfathers
Walter and Gustavus Clements.
I strongly suspect he is kin and "could be" the father of Walter. Walter's
middle name was Alexander. I have no proof. He could also be a brother or
Uncle.
Any help would be appreciated.
