Dear Candy,
We are both off the same main line. I'm off Wm. Hanson Jr. b. 1742
who maaried Ann Lantrum- I had a mil. record of this from Ancestry.com.
I have an outline from the work of Joseph L. Clements with documented Wills.
Wm. Hanson Sr. wife: Mary Ann Hanson had a father named John Hanson
& Elizabeth Hussey
I have Mary Hanson b. 1800, but have found other trees with 1685 &
1690. What dates do you have ?
Will send you genealogy from the Wm. Clements Jr. line.
I would be interested in your Bennet Hanson Sr. line.
Its nice to connect to someone on the same line.

Jane,

I have researched the Clements family pretty thoroughly and Walter is one of
my ancestors. As
far as we know, he was never married to Mary Ann Moody. I am looking for information on Sally CLEMENTS who married Bolling HOBBS in
Laurens County Ga in 1820. Their eldest son is my ancestor Drury HOBBS
1822-1888.
Le
Hi Cheri,
Although my Clements family is thought to be from Tyrone, I do have a London
connection. I am not sure how the Tyrone Clements' and the London Clements'
are connected. We have found their names on our Presbyterian church records
here in Canada. The London Clements' go like this:
Charles Draycott, b. 1803, New Sleaford, Lincoln, London. married Ann
Clements, b. abt 1803 at unknown in Kensington, London, England in 1834.
They had a child named Susannah Clemments Draycott in 1835, b. in St.
Martins In the Fields, Westminster, London. They are documented as having 12
children. I have only been successful in finding this one as she is the one
of note on our records. It is assumed (big assumption) that the
aforementioned Ann Clements is the sister of my ancestor
Robert Clements b. 1795, County Tyrone, Ireland. We have no idea who the
parents are or how Ann may have come to be in London.
We have looked at many trees for naming patterns, as the family seems to
have carried that to Canada. Many males names are John, James, Robert,
Frederick, Issac.
Female names are Ann, Rebecca, Jane, and the prominent one is Alice.
Robert's wife was Eleanor Moore, but went by Alice for unknown reason.
Unable to find any documentation in Ireland of their existance. Gravestones
in Montreal, Quebec indicate 'Natives of Tyrone.'
Because of my ancestor's trade, (cabinetmaker, chairmaker) we have assumed
they are from a town....most likely Cookstown. It has been difficult
connecting anyone as their appears to be no documentation of them in Ireland
as a family.
Kindest regards,
Carol Clements- Sprott

Is there anyone searching for an Oswald Clements in the area of Maryland possible time frame of 1740-1780?
I "think" there is a good possibility that he would be the father of Catherine Clements born in 1766 and married to Richard Roberts Nov 26 1778 in Montgomery CO. Maryland.
Any help would so be appreciated!!!!!!!
Thanks,
KC
yes to Virginia Tuttle. We asked a 2nd cousin once removed to take the DNA test. We have a 25 point perfect match with descendants of someone who came to America in the early 1600s from England. Our Clements family left Ireland for Canada in approximately 1825.

Our family is looking for information on early marriages for John Rickard Clements, born in 1838, died in 1926. Spouse 1 is Viola A. Spouse 2 is Mary Luber. Spouse 3 is Almira McLeod, our great grandmother. Information on spouses 1 and 2 and their descendants would be greatly appreciated.
John Rickard Clements was born in Lambton County, Ontario. As an adult we have him primarily in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada; Crookston Minnesota; Volusia County and Tampa, Florida. We also know he was living in Iowa and Kansas. He has been very hard to find on census records.
His children, that we know of, are Louis Ray Clements Sr and Bessie Clements Hamilton. There was a John Franklin Clements, son, mentioned in his will and there is another child we are aware of, probably born in the 1870s (1873).
In 1880 he made his first trip to Florida.

I'm glad Virginia brought up the DNA testing. I tried to get one of my
remaining male Clements cousins to take the test, but he wouldn't do it. My
husband did it to check his Miller line, but no matches so far.

I was contacted recently by a man in Indiana who said MY Walter was kin to

> After reading the Clements-Spaulding book on Ancestry, I read all about
"Walter, son of Samuel, Jr.". It said he married Hettie Wight 23 Jan 1820
(info I had seen long before from others who tried to help me many years
ago). That Hettie died 1833 and within a year he married Elizabeth A. Ryan.
Then that Walter died suddenly of sporadic cholera July 24, 1852". BUT, MY
Walter A. Clements was shown as a widower living in Louisville, KY in 1860
Census along with his son (my Gr-Grandfather) Gustavus, age 26 (b. 17 Apr
1834 in Garrard Co. KY) both of whom were "tinners" by trade. Walter's wife
was "Mary Ann Moody" of Louisville and mother of Gustavus. Their names were
on the marriage record of Gustavus. So the Walter in the Clements-Spaulding
book doesn't jive with the documented evidence I have of MY Walter A.
Clements. This is why I am so frustrated and puzzled.
>
> There are any number of Clements named "Walter and Gustavus" and more than
one Walter in Louisville, KY where he lived and where son Gustavus lived. I
followed the wrong ones about 18 years ago. Even though "some" unknown
people have posted the John through Samuel Sr. & Jr. Clements line on the
web that included MY Walter and family, I am smart enough to know not to
take it as fact. And if the author of the Clements-Spaulding book is
correct, then I still do not know which line of Clements my Walter descends
from back in MD.
>
> I was contacted recently by a man in Indiana who said MY Walter was kin to
him through his G-Grandmother Sarah Jane Clements b. about 1820 in
Louisville, he says was daughter of Walter and "Mary Ann Campbell"? She
died 29 Sept. 1852 in Roses Bar, CA. She married Clifton McDonald. 3 May
1846 in Louisville, KY. I had never seen those names before and am afraid
he has tracked the wrong Walter Clements. But I have no proof one way or
the other. This man said Walter reportedly ran a boarding house in
Louisville. I just added this information in case anyone else has these
people in their Clements line.

Jane,
I have researched the Clements family pretty thoroughly and Walter is one of
my ancestors. He is supposedly the son of Samuel and Eleanor Berry (per the
Clements-Spaulding book), and was born about 1793 and died July 24, 1852. As
far as we know, he was never married to Mary Ann Moody. His first wife was
Hettie Wight, married January 23, 1820 in St. Rose Parrish, Springfield, KY
(daughter of William and Rebecca Wight). His second wife after Hettie died
in July of 1833, was Elizabeth Ann Ryan, married November 26, 1833 also in
Springfield, KY. He and Hettie had 5 children, which I guess is why he had
to marry again so soon. He and Elizabeth Ann had 9 children, one of which
was James Samuel Clements, my great grandfather. One of James Samuel?s sons
was Samuel Edward Clements, my grandfather, and he married my grandmother,
Ella Kate Shader. That whole section of the Clements family resided in
Springfield until the early 1920?s when they moved to Louisville. My Walter
had a large farm in Springfield and he, Hattie and Elizabeth Ann are all
buried at St. Rose Cemetery in Springfield.

Laurie,
I am a Clements from Canada. My ancestors left Tyrone, Ireland mid 1800's
for Canada. Do you still have family in Canada? I am curious because we have
been searching for our Irish history for the past 8 years. We have all our
Canadian history. My Clements' lived in the Montreal and Killarney Manitoba
area for decades. A very interesting story. If you have any Canadian
connections, please feel free to contact me.
