If you are looking for a Clements Coat of Arms graphic, you can find one my
son and I put together. After searching high and low for one on the web, we
finally decided it was easier to just create one ourselves.

While I have your attention...
Here's a re-post of a previous request for information...
I have had a terrible time trying to find my heritage and family ancestry.
My aging father recently passed away...
UPDATE:
"Clem" Clements passed away early Friday morning on 10/15/1999. He was 91
years old. Services are tentatively set for early next week in Bend Oregon.
He is survived by his four children Don, Patty, Gerald and Bradley.
My 91 year old father, Irwin Edwin (Clem) Clements, b. Nov. 17th 1907 is
staying with me this week and I plan to interrogate him about my grandfather
while he's still here ! I'm only 34, but my grandfather fought in the
Spanish American War !
I'm also looking for my maternal grandmother's family line. Her maiden name
was Leonora Mary Clement, b.Apr 17th, 1887.
Be sure to sign my guest book if you visit my site and let me know what you
find out...
Thank you in advance for any useful information

Hello there,
I was wondering if anyone had any information on child migration programs
from UK to Australia around 1950. My father, David Norman Clements came to
Australia as part of the Child Migration Scheme and under "Barnardos". He
stayed in a Barnardos home in New South Wales when he got to Australia.
Apparently it was very common with "illegitimate" post WWII children.
Any information, copy of policy documents etc would be helpful.
Thanks
Belinda

there was a tv special here on us tv about 2 months ago. basically the
british government took hundreds of children from orphanages and from foster
care and shipped them against their wills to australia. never notified the
surviving parents of where the children went. lied to the children that had
parents and told them their kin were all dead. very big scandal about it in
britain. abuses took place from end of wwii to the early 1970's. real
orphans, children whose parents had fallen on hard times and "temporarily
placed" their children in care until health/financial concerns could be
resolved. british govt also altered records to cover their tracks. tv
researchers could only document 40 of the thousands of children "deported"
to keep australia white.
you face quite a task trying to find uk records if your ancestor was one of
these children.

Since I am descended from Jacob Clemet, son of James and Sarah, I would be
interested in where the information on Gregory's spouse and ancestors can
be found. I have seen a couple of different charts of this but never any
good sources. I would appreciate what you can share.

Martin,
There are lots and lots of CLEMENTS in England. Mine are in USA so far
but when I have researched my other names in England, I run across them all
the time. The best way I can think of is to go to the Census Index at the LDS
Family History Center or in your case the Main Family History Library in Salt
Lake. They index on microfiche by surname, street name and as enumerated.
You are in the greatest place in the world to do research! They have a
whole floor for English research and trained volunteers to walk you through
everything.
Good luck,
Melinda

I am looking for info on Issac R. Clements from Pulaski Co. Ga.. Married

** WELCOME to LAWS-UK GENEALOGY & LOCAL HISTORY List. **
(LAWS)
Please ! ! READ this message, PRINT it, SAVE it!!
WHO IS THE LIST OWNER?
The list owner is John P Laws who lives just outside Lincoln, England. H can be contacted on the following e-mail address:
laws(a)one-name.org
This is a discussion area for anyone who has an interest in
Genealogy, General & Local History related to the Families of:
LAW, LAWE, LAWES, LAWS, LAWSE, McLAW, McLAWS World-wide
WHAT IS THE AIM OF THIS LIST?
The aim of this list is to help each other by sharing information
and knowledge, advising where one can locate, or offer to help
search sources, in England & abroad.
TO WHICH MODE AM I SUBSCRIBED?
You are subscribed in MAIL mode - this means that you will receive a copy of all e-mails posted to the list as and when they are sent ie you will receive several individual messages per day. The amount can vary from about twelve to forty messages, although the average is approximately twenty.
CAN I CHANGE MODES?
Yes, you can change to DIGEST mode - this means that you will receive a daily 'digest' which is made up of all the individual messages sent to the list during the previous 12 hours(approx.). This is especially recommended for busy folk (you will receive all messages in full, but they will be incorporated into a single larger message).
CAN PROFESSIONAL RESEARCHERS/INDEXERS SUBSCRIBE TO THE LIST?
Yes, but PLEASE note, however, that whilst professional genealogists, indexers and
record agents who have genuine family interests in the area
covered are most welcome to join us, they must on NO ACCOUNT use the
list as a means of touting for business or obtaining information from
other subscribers to further their own ends.
In short, if someone sends a message to the list with a query that you may be able to help with in a professional capacity, you may reply to that person PRIVATELY offering your services on condition that you mention your professional capacity and details of your charges at the outset. However, you MUST not try to help that person simply by posting their specific query on individuals to this or any other list though you may enquire about available sources etc. You must NOT send a message to the list advertising your services although you may include the URL with a one-line description for your Website in your signature. ANYONE MISUSING THE LIST FOR PERSONAL FINANCIAL GAIN WILL BE UNSUBSCRIBED WITHOUT EXPLANATION
IF I WISH TO OFFER HELP FOR EXPENSES ONLY, CAN I SEND A MESSAGE TO THE LIST?
Yes. It is perfectly reasonable to ask for travelling, photocopying, postage costs etc if you are able to help anyone so that you are not out of pocket.
CAN MESSAGES BE SENT TO THE LIST IF I
HAVE NOT BEEN SUBSCRIBED?
The short answer is NO!. This is to protect you from spammers, nuisances etc.
However, the list is not moderated. Any message sent to it is
automatically bounced back out to everyone on the list. While I
in no way want to stifle free discussion, as list owners we reserve
the right to step in if a flame war erupts that becomes tedious
for other subscribers, or if someone becomes unseemly (excessive
use of profanity, for instance). Again, anyone causing upset to other subscribers will be removed from the list.
FILE ATTACHMENTS AND HTML
These are forbidden on Rootsweb Lists and will be rejected by Rootsweb.
****** Some mail packages generate a phantom attachment automatically
****** when the "reply" option is selected.
SO - check the options on your mail reader, and ensure that
**** the "HTML attachments" Or "RichText" option is switched OFF *****
**** messages are sent in "plain/text" format****
Also
ensure that the "HTML attachments" option is switched OFF
If you are unsure whether the settings on your mail reader are correct, send a trial message TO THE LISTOWNER who can advise. Recently Rootsweb have introduced an HTML Filter which should accept messages in HTML and turn them into plain text before forwarding them to the List. However it is inclined to produce some "gobbly-de-gook" so it is better to use plain text in the first place.
VIRUS WARNINGS
If you receive a Virus Warning from another party, PLEASE DO NOT forward it to the list under any circumstance. The majority of these warning are hoaxes (even if they do appear to come from a reliable source) and can cause a lot of unnecessary alarm. I would suggest that you firstly check the following web sites
http://www.kumite.com/myths/home.htmhttp://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.htmlhttp://www.ncsa.com/services/consortia/anti-virus/alerthoax.htmlhttp://www.drsolomon.com/vircen/vanalyse/va005.html
These are URLs which you can check to find out if the warning is genuine.
You can only contact a virus from an e-mail attachment with an .EXE suffix or by opening a document in a word processor or other program which has a
macro language - such as Word or Excel; this allows an embedded macro
in the document to run invisibly. Alternatively by accessing a Web page which uses Java or similar; again, this is like a macro in that it can run a "useful" function, but can also be perverted to run a destructive action. YOU CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH A VIRUS SIMPLY BY RECEIVING A PLAIN E-MAIL
If, after having checked the above, you feel that your Virus Warning is genuine, then, and ONLY then, should you contact the *listowner* who will take the necessary action.
PERSONAL MAIL and CHATTING
If you have a personal message ( non relevant reply to question )
for the sender, please send it to their e-mail address, NOT the
list server address. Any mail sent to the list will automatically
be sent to everyone who subscribes.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I FIND A MESSAGE TO BE OFFENSIVE OR HAVE ANY OTHER COMPLAINT?
Under no circumstances should you post a complaint to the list. In the first instance I suggest that you contact the listowner. There should also be a certain amount of tolerance towards those who are new to the Internet - we were all beginners once.
SHOULD I INCLUDE A SIGNATURE AT THE END OF MY MESSAGES?
If you are able to, use real names. Pointers to your Web Site and e-mail addresses would be helpful especially as some e-mail clients do not appear to show the e-mail address of the sender when receiving a message. However, please try and avoid including lengthy surname interests, especially if they are not relevant to the area covered by the list.
HOW DO I POST A MESSAGE?
To post a message to the list, send it to
LAWS-UK-L(a)Rootsweb.com
HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE?
Send a message to
LAWS-UK-L-REQUEST(a)Rootsweb.com
and type
unsubscribe
in the body of the text and NOTHING else
HOW DO I CHANGE TO DIGEST MODE?
You will need to unsubscribe from mail mode (see instructions above) and also send a message to
LAWS-UK-D-REQUEST(a)Rootsweb.com
and type
subscribe
in the body of the message and NOTHING else
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IF I CHANGE MY E-MAIL ADDRESS?
You will need to unsubscribe under your old address and resubscribe under your new address ie send an unsubscribe message as above and then send a new message to
LAWS-UK-L-REQUEST(a)Rootsweb.com
from your NEW address and type
subscribe
in the body of the message and NOTHING else
SUBJECT HEADINGS
When posting messages, it would be helpful if you could clarify in the
SUBJECT heading, the County, Surname, Parish or subject you refer
to e.g.
MDX: LAWS Stepney
SRY: LAW Walworth
WIL: LAWES Salisbury
ESS: LAWSE Brentwood
ROX: MCLAWS Kelso
For clarity please write all surnames (only) in CAPITALS
AM I RESTRICTED TO THE SIZE OF MESSAGE I CAN SEND?
Yes, for two reasons. Individual messages are restricted by Rootsweb to a maximum of 10kb, but more importantly, your message is far more likely to be read if it is brief. Please do not relate your whole family history - just give a few brief details so that anyone reading the message who may share your interests can contact you direct. You can then send all your additional info privately to that subscriber.
SHOULD ANSWERS TO QUERIES BE SENT VIA THE LIST OR PRIVATELY TO THE ORIGINATOR OF THE QUERY?
This depends on the nature of the answer! If you feel it would benefit other list subscribers then please do send via the list e.g. information on sources, books, particular towns/villages etc, but if it relates purely to a particular family then it is better to contact the originator individually.
BOUNCED MESSAGES
There are several reasons why your messages from the list may bounce ie
Your ISP is down
Your telephone company is down due to bad weather etc
You have changed e-mail addresses without unsubbing from your old address and resubbing under your new
You have gone away on holiday and your ISP is one that limits the amount of mail you can build up in your inbox (mail mode subscribers to AOL and Virgin take note!)
You have not read and/or kept this Welcome Message and therefore you have no idea how to unsub/change modes/send messages to the list
If you find that you have not received a message via the list in 12 hours, you may have been unsubbed. The Rootsweb Robot will automatically unsub you after a certain number of bounced messages so you may need to re-subscribe.
WHAT SHOULD BE THE NATURE OF THE MESSAGES I SEND?
Anything relevant to the area covered by the list or of national genealogical/historical interest e.g. repositories, sources, books, societies, web sites
CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANY USEFUL WEB SITES?
Yes, there are several sites that may be of interest, as follows:
To submit & search Surnames for all your County Interests,
& for County Web Pages, covered by this List, go to
http://www.genuki.org.uk/
then go to England, then appropriate County.
This will give you details with regard joining the County
FH Societies and also Record Office addresses.
