Hello, Richard and CLEMENTS,
I am a descendant of Philip and Eve CLEMENTS Barger, New river, or
Draper's
Meadows, VA, the present town of Blacksburg, Montgomery Co., VA.
I have found information at www.familysearch.org which you might
want to consider on Christian Clements, b. 1727, Augusta Co., VA, d. 1783,
Augusta Co., VA, and his wife, Catherine Faught/Vaught, b. 1731, Augusta
Co., VA, d. abt 1793, Augusta Co., VA. Their son, Casper Clements, married
Mary Caldwell, whose daughter, Eve Clements, married Philip Barger. I don't
have any of Eve's siblings' names but you might try the following:
You may already be aware of this page but if not............
www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hollow/1869/Barger/TheBargersHistory.html has
information about Philip and Casper Barger, the Clements....
You'll also find Clements and over a dozen sections (family group
sheets, Bible records, obits, etc..) at The Barger Family History Society,
http://members.tripod.com/~suzid/index.html .
You might even try the www.genforum.com/Barger or
www.genforum.com/Gist for queries connected to the Clements.
And lastly, http://www.umdl.umich.edu/moa/search.html definitely has
Barger info and possibly Clements.
If I should locate any other Clements children I will get back to you,
Jane Yoakum Evans

Am searching for any information about the family of Christopher and
"Polly"(Mary?) CLEMMONS who had at least one daughter born in Washington
Co, VA, 9 Jan 1813.
Believe Christopher may be the son of Casper/Gasper CLEMMONS and wife, Mary
Caldwell, of Augusta Co, VA.
Casper CLEMMONS, is known to have had a son, John Douglas CLEMMONS, who
settled in Ross Twp, near Jamestown, Greene Co, OH.
The family records indicate that Christopher and Polly, came to Greene Co,
OH, in 1818. The parents died in 1825, leaving 4 children; two boys and two
girls, of which my ancestor, Nancy "Agnes CLEMMONS was the youngest. Nancy,
married James WELCH, 23 March 1828. There is also a supposed brother of
Nancy's, Gasper, who married Elizabeth WELCH, 24 Jan 1827. A Joshua
CLEMMONS, married Rachael ROBERTS, 18 Apr 1831, who could be another
brother. This leaves one sister, yet to be discovered.
The reason for believing that this family descends from Gasper WELCH and
Mary CALDWELL, is because of the repetition of the name, "Gasper", in
several lines for at least a few generations. For, example, other than the
brother of Nancy CLEMMONS, named Gasper, Nancy and James Welch, had a
daughter, Sarah Ann WELCH, who married my 2nd g-grandfather, Samuel Jackson
FLATTER, and she named one of her sons, "Gasper Leroy FLATTER", passing the
name along to yet another generation. This cannot be "coincidental",
surely.
Would appreciate any information about this early CLEMMONS/CLEMMENS, etc.
family of VA and OH.
Thank you,
Richard
