William Clements married Margaret Christison 1812 Casey County KY. Did he
also marry Elizabeth Messer 1801 Mercer County KY? And, who were his proven
children? The list that I have seems to be in error. The name was also
spelled Clemmons and Clem. Thank you. Hazel

The most remarkable thing has happened!
Thirty-three years ago I lost a boy hood friend named Richard Mc Gee to the
war in Viet Nam. A few years after Richard's death I too joined the army and
went to Viet Nam. After my tour and I returned home safe, I moved several
times and lost touch with Richard's family. I had often wondered what
happened to them and if they were well, but like me they had moved on with
their lives also. A few years ago I wrote a poem in honor of Richard Mc Gee,
my intention was to visit the "Wall" in Washington, DC and leave it there.
However "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry" and I never made
it to Washington. I did however find a web sight called "A Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Wall Page"' I submitted my poem and they graciously posted it to
their "Literary Works" page. Two years have pasted since I posted that poem
and yesterday I received an E-mail from Richard's sister, she had been to the
site and read the poem. If I could equate this to genealogy it would be that
I have found a piece of my past and it is as exhilarating as finding a long
lost ancestor. Memorial Day 1999 will be very special me, I have found a
piece of "my" past.
Please, on this Memorial Day, remember a veteran, they have made the ultimate
sacrifice and will continue to lay down their lives for you and I. We owe
them this day of remembrance.
To see the poem "Ode To Richard Mc Gee" go to:

HREF="http://thewall-usa.com/">Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall
</A>
scroll down to the "Table of Contents" and click on "Literary Work", then
look for "Ode to Richard Mc Gee", I also have another tribute on this page
called "Farewell"
"Their names are etched in my heart as they are upon this wall"

A word from our sponsor that should be of interest to all of us.
RootsWeb has revised its home page to make access to its several
resources easier. For those odf you with access to the web (and those
who don't, should) check it out. Here is an edited version of the
announcement from RootsWeb which I received today. (Btw, the Surname
Resources pages are fine, but it's the MAIN PAGE that has been greatly
revised to make it more helpful.)
**
ROOTSWEB PUTS IT TOGETHER. Have you ever wished you could look up
*everything* at RootsWeb that relates to a particular surname?
Now you can!
Click on the new option SURNAME RESOURCES at RootsWeb's main page
<http://www.rootsweb.com/> or go directly to:
<http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/>. Click on the letter of
the alphabet for the surname of interest, and then select it from
the list that appears. This will take you to a "surname resource
cluster," where you can search for your surname in numerous
databases. For example, using BANKSTON you would find:
<http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/b/a/BANKSTON/>, where you
could search "B" WEB SITES, the OBITUARY DAILY TIMES, or:
o The ROOTSWEB SURNAME LIST (RSL). RSL search options are by
surname, Soundex, or Metaphone (the latter two are "sounds-
like" matches). You can search for updates from the past two
months, last month, last week, or for any mention.
o TRANSCRIPTION PROJECTS. You might check to see if your
immigrant ancestors' names are listed at the Immigrant Ship
Transcribers Guild (ISTG).
o PRIMARY RECORDS AT ROOTSWEB (from USGenWeb Archives and
RootsWeb Searchable Databases).
o GENERAL LINKS AND SEARCH ENGINES. There are three options.
o ROOTSLINK link registry. You can add a new link also.
o SEEKER search engine, which returns surname matches from
Web pages -- there is much "hidden genealogy" that this
search will help you find.
o SURNAME HELPER search engine finds queries and surname
registrations posted at various genealogically-related
sites on the Web, with participating sites including many
USGenWeb and WorldGenWeb sites. All GenConnect boards are
indexed in Surname Helper.
o MAILING LISTS. Descriptions of lists that relate to this
surname, subscription instructions, and links to the
archives so you can search or browse past postings.
o GENCONNECT. Click on GLOBAL SURNAME SEARCH to find queries
that mention the surname of interest that are posted in
connection with any county, state, or country in the world.
Or click an icon for one of the seven automated boards that
together make up a "suite" of boards available for surnames
and localities (Queries, Bible records, Biographies, Deeds,
Obituaries, Pensions, and Wills).
RootsWeb hopes that putting these links under one SURNAME
RESOURCES roof will help everyone find all the buried treasure.

Where is Marion County? Where is St. Bernard's Cemetery? Canada? US? It would
help to know more.
Hello,
I am seeking info on my great grandmother X Raley born and married in Marion
Co. She was married Est 1860 to William David Clements and had three known
children: Cordelia (my grandmother), Louise (Lou) and Laura. All three
children lived and died in Casey Co. They were buried in St Bernard's
Cemetery.
The parents of William David were James Clements and Lucretia Brown.
There is speculation that William spent his last years with one of his
daughters ( not known which) and died there. There is no info where William
is buried or X Raley for that matter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Larry Clements

I received this on the Orange Co.,NC list and have bookmarked it
because it may come in handy in the future. It isn't just address, it
helps find other sites that might help with vital records -- Diana
>The below website has individual counties throughout the
US along with costs for records and addresses. Also has over 100
genealogy sites, updated frequently, some of which are very good. Ruth

url: http://www.vitalrec.com
This page contains information about where to obtain vital records
(such as birth, death & marriage certificates and divorce decrees)
from each state, territory and county of the United States. See the
guidelines for information on how to order vital records. If you are
looking for vital records from a foreign county, see my links to
foreign vital records web sites.
I would like to get the lists feedback on a new project I am thinking about.
The CLEMENT Project - The project would consist of volunteers from the mailing
list that are searching out vital records from their own geographical area nad
research and posting the information to a website.
The records will consists of information for the CLEMENT surname, regardless of
the spelling. All variations would be covered CLEMENT, CLEMENTS, CLEMENS,
CLEMONS, CLEMANS, CLEMENCEAU, CLEMENTE, CLEMENTI, KLIMA, KLEMM, KLIMAS. The
purpose of "The CLEMENT Project" is to identify all of the CLEMENT and any other
spelling families and records for each of the geographical areas that I have
identified below. As mroe volunteers join the project, more areas will be
included. The volunteers will be transcribing birth, death, mariage records,
obits, will, tax/land records, Census records and County Histories for all
CLEMENT, regarless of spelling and uploading the information to the website.
Region 1 - Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska

Britannica's Lives Limited helps you locate biographical profiles of
famous people. One of the unique features of the site is that you can
search by birth date--a great way to find out what you have in common
with your better-known birthday buddies. You can sort the resulting
list of names by birth year (the default), last name, or topic.
