WELCOME to all the new subscribers in the last month. I am happy to tell
you that we now
have over 200 subscribers (245 to beexact) and I'm glad to see that
we are usually able to keep the list active. I would also like to remind
you
that I have started a CLEMENT Cuzins
webpage. (Http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9263) it's a work in
progress. I am looking for more queries to add if you are interested.
It's that time again to share...
Let's try something new to help find our connections. I saw this used on
another list I belong
to so I thought we might try it. Many people found additional generations
of their lines, helped
cousins extend the knowledge of their lines, and found connection to new
cousins!!
I am asking that you send several different posts, using the information
you have for your line.
This project will not be something that will be completed in a week. I
will resend this message
every couple of weeks for those that have joined.
Please send as many generations of you direct line of the surname of this
list as you have found.
If you only know two generations, that is find - if you know fifteen, that
is fine also. In this post,
please include the birthdate and location of your ancestors, and the states
they migrated thorough,
as well as the name of their spouse, date and place of death, siblings and
their spouses, all children
and their spouses, etc. that can be save in the "library" mailbox I have
set up for the list. This needs
to COME TO THE LIST so that everyone can look for connections.
And, if you have found the immigrant who first brought your line to this
countyr, please send this
information in a post TO THE LIST with IMMIGRANT as the subject line.
Maybe we can find descendants
of all the immigrant's children on this list!
Also, if you have a public figure in your line - a minister, Rev. War
ancestor, Civil War ancestor,
politician, doctor, teacher, or the like, please send the name of the
person and the relevant information
in the post TO THE LIST with VIP - (State) in the subject line. These
people are sometimes easier to
spot, and we may be able to connect more readily if we know our
relationship to them.
I you have, as I do in some instances, only the name of a grandmother with
the surname of the list,
please send her name and the name of her spuse, along with the year (as
closely as you can guess,
if you don't know) she was born and where they lived, in a post with
GRANDMOTHER - (State) as
the subject line. At some point, I will combine these, and we can look for
them amongst the siblings/children
in the known families.
All of this informaiton will be kept in the "LIBRARY" for our future
reference as we find more about
our ancestors. PLEASE SEND THESE POSTS TO THE LIST so t each of you can
keep your own library,
if you would like, in addition to the one I will keep for the list.
All of this will help up, but is totally dependent on each of us sending
our information. I will be
sending (and getting ready to send) mine, and hope you will do the same!
Let's have 1998 be a year we find a connection!

Hi.
I'm looking for the parents of Reuben BLACK who was b. in 1847 in
either Indiana or Illinois, depending on what record you believe. He
m. Mary FOX in 1872 in Nebraska and had the following children:
George W. BLACK, b. 1873, Nebraska, m. Susan M. Claus
Clara BLACK, b. 1875, Nebraska, died young
Minnie BLACK, b. 1878, Nebraska, died young
Grace A. Black, b. 1880, Nebraska, m. Christopher M. Anderson
Herbert BLACK, b 1883, Nebraska, died young
R. Christopher BLACK, b. 1887, Nebraska, m. Maebelle A. Arehart
M. Josephine BLACK, b. 1891, Nebraska, m. (1) J. Leonard HAHN, (2)
Robert A. Abshire
Reuben and Mary's marriage record states that Reuben was born in
Illinois to George W. BLACK and Ella CLEMENTS. Reuben's death
certificate says he was born in Indiana and states his father's name
as George W. BLACK, born in Penn., and mother's name unknown.
The 1880 and 1900 US census and the 1885 NE state census lists Reuben
as born in Indiana and his parents born in Pennsylvania. The 1910 US
census lists him as born in Illinois, father born in Pennsylvania, and
mother born in Illinois. I've gone through the census rolls for every
George BLACK and G. BLACK found in the available indexes for Indiana
and Illinois for 1850 and 1860 looking for one with a wife named Ella
and a child named Reuben without much success. I had only one that
looked even remotely possible:
*1850* Clark Co, IL
George Black (36) Virginia
Ethelindo (31) Kentucky
John (8) Illinois
Samuel (5) Illinois
Reuben (2) Illinois
*1860* Clark Co, IL
George Black (42) Tenn
Dicy (28) Ind
John (19) IL
Samuel (16) IL
Reuben (11) IL
Cassander (9) IL
Isaac Newton (6) IL
Margaret Ann (5) IL
George W. (4) IL
Henry G. (1/12) IL
I'm assuming this is the same family with a different mother perhaps.
The states of birth for the parents are obviously way off but this is
the only Reuben as a child in all the families I looked at and by
chance the child happens to be of the right approximate age. I didn't
find one Ella for the wife's name in any of the families, I thought
"Ethelindo" to be quite unique if I'm not misreading the writing
(which is possible), and just maybe Ella was a shortened form of this
name. But none of the George's listed as having been born in PA
seemed to fit, either they were too old, too young, had other (female)
children born at the time Reuben would have been, etc.
Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
Irene
Just wanted to let ya'll know that we have a home page now. As of right
now, we have some of Rick's lines (from Tuscaloosa and Pickens counties, AL
- He entered from my hard copies!) along with my direct lines for CLEMMONS
and MCGEE (Lauderdale County, AL) with a connection from my MCGEE direct
line page to my entire MCGEE file. A note of interest to some: jpg photos
of 1) James Curtis CLEMMONS (1815-1861) and 2) Mary Adeline LANIER holding
James Henry CLEMMONS (Mary Adeline married Welcome MCGEE after James Curtis
died) are on the CLEMMONS direct page, if my links are still right. The
complete MCGEE file will probably be changed to an ftp zipped file as I get
more info together to upload.
URL for our home page: http://www.mindspring.com/~cholman
If you get a chance to check our pages out, let me know what you think and
if there are any problems.
Thanks,

Very interesting anc colorful biographies! France, eh? And
Corsica? makes one wonder about an ancestor named "Gurnan (or
Guian) Clements," and his possible sons Alexender, George,
Augustus, and daughter Jane. (All in Ohio in 1822).

Searching for parents and siblings of Margaret M. Clemants, b. c1786 NC?
and who was married 11 Dec 1805 in Shelby Co, KY to Peter Gott. I have
Peter's parents, and full details on all nine children who were born
between 1807 and 1829 in Shelby and Warren Cos, KY. The family must
have migrated to Polk Co, Mo about 1850. The children married before
1850, married in Warren Co, KY. After 1850, they married in Polk Co,
MO.
And there was a really big Gold Rush in Georgia about the same time, folks
came from all over the US and some from Europe. Many went on to CA in the
50's.

This probably isn't of much interest to many here, perhaps to one
or two of us, but I only recently picked up an interesting
tidbit, marginally related to genealogy, perhaps.
Ever discount someone's saying they have a Clements (or Smith, or
whoever) in the Carolinas circa 1830 or so, and you thought,
"Yeah, but my ___s were in Ohio/PA/Kentucky/etc. and were moving
north or west. Wouldn't have gone back south, probably."
Maybe. I learned there was a mini-gold rush in North Carolina in
1830, and many would-be prospectors picked up everything and
rushed there, hoping to get rich.
So, maybe you have an ancestor who disappeared around 1830 (or
several?) and maybe... Who knows?
