Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Here is my CLEMENT line. I would enjoy exchanging data with
anyone who might have CLEMENT ancestors in common. This applies
to the collateral lines as well. I am prepared to cite sources

If there is any chance your Lucy Clements was from Indiana, you
might want to look in the Martin/Daviess County area of Indiana.
Clements and Queens are both abundant there.
I have the addresses for the public libraries for Washington,
Indiana (Daviess County) and Shoals, Indiana (Martin County).
Please email me if you would like either one. Both have
birth, death, and marriage indices for their county.

According to the 1900 Starke Co. IN census, James and Josephine had 14
children ten of whom were living in 1900. The above names I got from that
census or were given by relatives. I have been told that William's parents
were James and Jane Clements. There was a James Clements m. to Jane Hatton 6
Apr 1824 in Amherst Co. VA. There is also a Jane and James Clements in the
1870 Starke Co, IN census who were born in VA and would have been the right
ages for the above.

Here is my Clemens line so far. My immigrant ancestors on this line are
Gerhard Clemens and Ann Reif, who came to America in 1709, settling in
Lower Salford Township in Philadelphia County, PA.
(source:) "The Strassburger Geneology and Allied Families of
Pennsylvania";
pgs 454,466; Oakland, CA Family History Library; 929.273ST817s.
Gerhard Clemens and Ann Reif came to America in 1709, and stayed in New
York for a while before settling in Lower Salford Township. In 1718
purchased 300 acres and purchased an additional 390 adjoining acres
confirmed to him by a patent dated 15 Apr 1734. There is nothing to be
found in the records of Philadelphia concerning the settlement of his
estate. Apparently, he had prepared himself for his death by disposition
of all his property. He and his wife, Ann, are both buried at the Lower
Salford Meeting House, but no stones are standing to mark the graves.
The Clemens family placed a memorial stone in the Salford Mennonite
Meetinghouse Cemetery commemorating the "Pioneers of the Clemens
Family". The stone reads:
First Generation
Gerhart Clemens 1680-1745 and Ann Clemens
Emigrated 1709
Second Generation
John Clemens 1707 / Elizabeth Clemens
Anna Clemens Kratz 1793 / Jacob Clemens 1782 / Abraham Clemens 1776
Valentine Kratz 1709-1780 / Barbara Clemens / Catherine Clemens
There are a couple interesting items here that are noteworthy:
This Clemens line originates in England - then moves to Holland before
immigrating to America. George Clement (Gerhard's father) was Puritan
and along with Oliver Cromwell and 57 others, signed the warrant for the
execution of Charles the First, 1648. When the crown was restored to
Charles' son in 1660, George and 10 or 12 others were beheaded (or
otherwise disposed). -(lucky for me, he had a son first !!-<g>) My
descendency comes through both Jacob and Anna (both children of Gerhard
and Ann Reif)

Hello!
I am hoping someone can help me identify the parents and siblings of my 4 great
grandmother, Rachel Clements/Clemmons. Here are her particulars:
RACHEL CLEMENTS b. 10 Oct. 1775, SC
d. ca. 1833, TN (Hardin or McNairy Co.)
m. Hamilton Reynolds ca. 1791, SC
Children: Elizabeth b. 30 June 1793, SC
Hugh Riah b. 5 Nov. 1795, SC
David B. b. ca. 1797, SC
Nancy b. 8 June 1798, SC
Thomas b. ca. 1800, SC
Isaac b. 2 Jan. 1802, SC
Millage H. b. 17 Apr. 1805, SC
Polly b. 15 Jan. 1807, SC
Hamilton Reynolds was a veteran of the Rev. War and served under Col. Pickens in
the GA Militia. After the war, he returned to Wilkes Co., GA where his parents
were living, then moved to Pendleton District, SC. So, we expect that he met
and married Rachel Clements in one of these two areas.
I have heard it claimed that our Clements line includes Samuel Clemens (Mark
Twain). I've nothing to substantiate this, but living in Lauderdale Co., AL
(1860 census) not far from Hamilton & Rachel Clements Reynolds' son, Hugh Riah
Reynolds, is William Clemens, age 39, b. TN; wife, Francis A., age 34, b. VA;
and children Samuel A., age 11, b. AR; Mary A., age 10, b. AR; McDaniel, age 7,
b. AR; Peter, age 4, b. AR; Liza Jane, age 3, b. AR; and Rebecca Jane, age 1, b.
AL.
If anyone can help me further identify Rachel Clements and her family, I'd
really appreciate it!!

Clement Data----
I have Richard CLEMENT who married Mehitable RUNELS. Mehitable was born 28
Oct 1764. This is a rare case in which I have more concrete information
about the female side. Mehitable's parents were Thomas RUNELS and Phebe.
Thomas' parents were Job and Abigail (married 1733). The Runels were from
Nova Scotia, and before that from Scotland. Richard Clement's son Thomas was
born 13 May 1786 in Salem, Rockingham,

Hi Everyone:
I have started an on-line Clements Ancestor database at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfisher/clements/
Please enter only your earliest ancestor for each state or county. I don't
have space for everyone to enter a ton of names - so please cooperate.
I will also set up a web page with links to your personal Clements web pages
- so if you have web pages, send me the URL and I will be sure to add it to
the list. I have quite a bit of my genealogy on the web, but I haven't
finished the Clements side, yet!! <grin>

This is all of the CLEMENTS we know which starts with GERTRUDE in
Philadelphia, PA. in 1933. She was and unwed mother at the time we believe
and gave Roland up at age 5 months. We heard she was living with her
parents and that she had brothers and sisters living at home at the time
and my father would have had and uncle who was simular in age. Please help
us find our roots.

This is the only Clement that I know of in my line:
Jacob H. Clement, son of EG and MG Clement, born apr 29, 1897, died June 6,
1907
Not sure how he fits in with my family but he is buried in our small family
graveyard in Goodview, Virginia on land that used to belong to Henry C. Loyd,
born 1888

Hi, I found a child buried in our family graveyard back in old Virginny
(Goodview) and I do not know who he is. Can anyone help?
He is buried on land that was owned by Henry C. Loyd (1888-1963) and Isabel
G. Loyd (1900-1985). There are also some Kefauvers buried there, John
Kefauver (1833-1885) and his wife, Virginia F. Kefauver.
Tombstone reads:
Jacob H. Clement, youngest son of E.G. & M.G. Clement, born Apr 29, 1897,
died June 6, 1907
Thanks

I received this request in the mail so any help would be appreciated.
"My interest in the surname of CLEMENTS is in regards to an Emma "Em"
CLEMENTS who married
Edward ELLIOTT and had three children named Frederick, Harry and Charles
ELLIOT that I know of.
Edward ELLIOTT was the sun of Catherine A. DRUMM and _______ ELLIOTT. My
interest lies
in the DRUMM family. Hopefully, if I can contact an ELLIOTT that is doing
research on the CLEMENTS
line, they might possibly know more about the DRUMM line as well.
Catherine (DRUMM) ELLIOTT
was born and died in Licking County, Ohio so I am guessing that any
CLEMENTS research would
be in that area. "
