Raymond Martin Bell's book, page 24, ABRAHAM CLEMENS, the
great-grandfather of Mark Twain, was likely born in New Jersey about
1740. As a small child he lived in Rockbridge Co. VA. His father and
grandfather left Virginia and returned to New Jersey. Here about 1761
Abraham married Elizabeth Moore of Trenton, NJ.
Page 40-B shows chart: Samuel Langhorne Clemens, John Marshall Clemens,
Samuel Clemens, Abraham Clements.
Abraham ad financial problems, he had left the family, His brother
Jeremiah had looked over Abranams family while he was a way. Maybe this
is why people took Jeremiah instead of Abraham as the father of Samuel
Clemens who m Pamela Googins.
THE BOOK: The Ancestry of Samuel Clemens grandfather of Mark Twain by
Raymond Martin Bell written 1980 and reviesed 1981.It is in the Fort
Wayne library, as well as the LDS Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City,
UT. Book # 929.273 A1 No. 3992 (not all the pages of the book are there),
and Microfich # 6019255.

My gggrandfather was William Clements who emigrated from Ireland to
Lambton County, Ontario with his brother John and mother (unnamed) in
the 1820s or 1830s. William's oldest son was John Riccard (Ricard,
etc), who was born in 1838.
We have a lot of information about William's brother John's descendents,
which we will be happy to share. William and John remained in Lambton
County.
We are trying to find the location in Ireland where they lived. We'd
appreciate any information available.
