I am not related to this person, his obituary appeared in the "100 Years Ago Today" column in the North Vernon (IN) Plain Dealer on 4-18-2011 for 4-13-1911. I thought it might be of help to someone.
Christian Clement was born in Berne, Switzerland, on Jan. 15, 1832, and died April 6, 1911, aged 79 years, 2 months and 21 days. His parents came to this country when he was 3 years old, settling in Columbia County, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. In 1852 he came to Jennings County, Campbell Township, and engaged in the timber business with Arvine Queer about 1-1/2 miles northeast of Butlerville.
He was married to Catherine Clerkin in the spring of 1862 and set up housekeeping in the house where he died. His wife died in October 1887. To them were born two children, Ella a widow who has made a home with her father since the death of her husband in July 1903 and a son who lived only a few months. Mr. Clement, though in the prime of life when his wife died, never remarried.
"Uncle Crist" as his neighbors called him, was one of Campbell Township's substantial citizens. Throughout his life he manifested those traits of integrity, industry and sturdy independence for which the people of Switzerland noted. He was a good neighbor, a most affectionate father and grandfather and an honorable citizen. He will be sadly missed by his two grandsons, Urban and Adrian, and by his daughter, Ella.

Hi,
I am searching myself. I believe the John Clement, born of Augustine and Elizabeth, is Cyrus Clement's father, who is my 4th great grandfather. Keep me posted and I'll do the same.
