We are cousins! We can't find solid info on how Gregory and James are related. But our tree begins with him w/o a birth date...married Elizabeth Field in 1669...died in 1724...son
Jacob...son Samuel born 1710...Samuel...Samuel...son Evan
Collins Clement...son John Kay Clement born 1820(Civil War)
died 1882 Sunbury, Pa....Charles M...son Charles F.(brother Martin, was President of the Pennsylvania Railroad 1935-1949)
..son Henry L. Clement(Purple Heart & Silver Star...Battle of the Bulge)...son Peter W. Clement
Keep us posted...we have been to N.J. several times from our home in Pa. We had a Clement Reunion in Sunbury and Philadelphia, which included the Pa. Railroad Clements with our King Ranch Clement cousins...over 60 in 1997.

My Clement line begins with Gregory Clement (b. 1620), then James-Jacob-Samuel-JosephI-JosephII-JosephIII-Edward B.-William D.- John E. Clement Sr.
The Samuel Clement on my line was born in 1710 and married Rebecca Collins.
I have quite a bit of data on this line that goes back to the "Old Clement Homestead" in Gloucester County, NJ.
Interesting tidbit: I was able to locate and visit the Old Clement Oak this past Thanksgiving while traveling to visit family in NJ. This was the site of the landing of the first manned air travel and first "Air Mail" in the history of the country: A handwritten letter from George Washington! Deptford Township, NJ maintains this on their logos, etc.
One of the best sources I located was from this website that links to a book, "Sketches of the first emigrant settlers in Newton Township, old Gloucester County, West New Jersey". Especially see pages 267-276:

Hope this helps!
T.

Is this the Clement family that goes back Gregory Clement, via James Clement? A Samuel Clement was Mayor of Philadelphia. Clemonton, N.J. was named after them.
Gregory was killed during the Regicides takeover of Charles I and his beheading in 1648. Henry Cromwell was the leader.
Our branch went to Sunbury, Pa.
