I have a Latin Grammar book that was with my grandmothers possessions.
There was a postcard inside the book addressed to a Myrtle CLEMENT of Fox Lake, WI, postmarked 22 Sep 1915 from Beloit College, WI. It's signed "Love, Imogene".
The card sounds like the sender is attending the school in Beloit. Inside the book in faded writing is the name "Myrtle Clement", so I am assuming the book is hers and she has kept the postcard as a bookmark from her friend Imogene. There is also written inside the Latin book, "Downer College, Sept 11, 1889". Possibly the school and date the book was used for.
I have tracked the censuses and found Myrtle Clement and her family in 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 (her father is widowed), 1905, 1910, 1920. They have stayed in the Fox Lake area the entire time.
Clement, Stephen 1831, head
Clement, Jane C. 1840, wife
Clement, Abigail 1859, dau
Clement, Webster 1864, son
Clement, Myrtle 1869, dau
Clement, Herbert 1873, son
The census looks like Myrtle never married and lived with her father taking care of him until his death after 1910. In 1920, at 50 yrs old, she is working as a servant and living with the GETTE family in Foz Lake.
I have no idea how my grandmother obtained this book, or how this person/family is connected. My grandmother did have cousins in Dodge Co., WI. but no family with the Clement name.
Does this family sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks, Sandy

Hello drbrownlee,
I am interested in your email re Clement in Waco, Texas.
We have a cousin from Canada who married a Ditzler and moved to Waco around
1948.
Her name was Iris Clement. We do not know what her husbands name was - his
initial was H.
Could be he was in the Military. Any connection or help would be greatly
apppreciated

Hello,
I have an old photo on cardboard of Noria Clement given to "her friend Julia Clement". It came from a collection of old family photos from Houma Louisiana. From her clothes, I would say the photo was taken 1900-1910 and she looks like a teenager. If anyone would a copy of this photo, just respond to this message.

Dear Lee Bridge Cognetta,
My wife's father was John Clement
and his father Thomas Clement, both
in Co.Cork, Ireland, circa 1910.
We know little more at present but
perhaps it would be useful to keep in touch
as more family members are discovered.
Oddly, on my wife's mother's side (Baigent)
there are members from or close to Camberwell,
Surrey, in the l9th century (Sidney Baigent).

Married Eliza Bridge (born 30 Jan 1849 in Manchester, England) in 1877

Children:
William Clement - born about 1878 in Sale, Cheshire
James Clement - born about 1880 in Camberwell, Surrey
Leonard Clement - born about 1882 in Camberwell, Surrey
Elsie Clement - born about 1884 in Camberwell, Surrey
Ernest Clement - born about 1886 in Camberwell, Surrey
Lucy Clement - born about 1891 in Walthamstow, Essex
Eliza Bridge Clement's father died in 1896 and she inherited his home in
Sale, Cheshire. The family was living there in 1901. I am eager to
trace what became of the children. According to the 1901 census, the
child, Elsie, was paralyzed.
I look forward to hearing from anyone with a connection to this family.
