Another researcher has told me that Gilbert Clement's parents were William Clement and Elizabeth Burn who married at St Giles, Durham in 1771 although I have not confirmed this.
According to census entries Gilbert was born at Kelloe in 1785 and Isabella at Wapping in 1786.
The baptism of their daughter Elizabeth at Chester le Street in 1811 describes them as "Gilbert Clement of Great Lumley Tailor native of Kellor by his wife Isabella Ramshaw native of Punshaw."

Would you happen to know the names of Gilbert's parents and/or grandparents?
Also, specifically where in Durham was this couple from?

Hi,
My GGrandfather was Riley Clement. His Dad was Bluford, and grandfather Mannon Clement. Mannon's father was William Andrew Clement who married Sallie (Sarah) Skaggs in Green County, KY. Among Mannon's brothers was a William and an Alexander. The family moved to Mo and then on to Carroll Co., AR. About 1850, they moved from there to North Texas. There were two groups...my direct line and their cousins, who I believe are your people. If you want a copy of my FTM file, I would be glad to share. It is also posted on Ancestry.com. Unfortunately, we have no information prior to William Andrew Clement, which was about 1813. By chance if you come across additional information, please share.
You will probably want to know that are many Clement(s) in Southern OK, and North Texas still existant. Through this line we are related to Gov. Throckmorton (from whence the Texas town) was derived. Also, Bennie Binion the Billionaire who founded the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas. Lots of big stories about this lot. Interestingly, there is a lady in Amarillo who wrote several books on the Skaggs family that includes information on the Clement line.
If this is of interest, please send me an email.
With warmest regards,
Bill Cooper

Message Board Post:
I am looking for information on my great-grandmother, Ollie Marie Clement who was born in Oklahoma (I think) around 1887. She was married to Eddie General Richardson. She had a sister, Minnie Lee (Clement) Howard.
I think her father was a James or Riley or James Riley or J.R. possibly born around 1861 in Lamar County TX and died in Caddo, OK, Bryan County in 1930. He may have married an Ellen Barnes (Turner - 1st marriage). I am particularly interested in Ellen's relatives.
James Riley's father may have been Abraham Clement born in 5/1835 (? Arkansas) and moved to TX. The 1860 census doesn't show him listed but the 1870 census shows him listed in Lamar County.
Abraham's parents may have been William WEsley Clement b. 1802 in Green County Kentucky and moved to Arkansas in 1840 then to TX around 1850 - 1853.
I'd appreciate any information on the above.
Thank you,
Brenda Meziere
