Hello List,
Our Clement family of interest begins with John Clement of St. Paul's Parish,
New Kent (later Hanover) Co., VA -- his will was proven in 1749.
His son Simon moved to Amelia Co., VA then later to Granville Co., NC -- his
will was proven in 1800.

Willis B. H. Clements (Clemmons, etc.) was born in Tennessee in 1810, married
"M. West" (from a son's death certificate), was the father of three children:
Catherine M. (1832-1905), John M., and Carey Monroe Clements.
Willis Clemens is on the 1840 census of Bedford Co, TN near Jane Clemens,
thought to be his mother. He sold land to his believed brother, George W.
Clements, which joined land "sold by John C. Clements." In 1840 Willis had no woman
of an age to be his wife in his home. In 1850 Willis is in Nashville living
in the home of Martha Cowgill. They were married in the 1850s. George W.
Clements is also in Nashville in 1850, living near Willis on the east side of
town. Jane is living with George. It is possible that Jane is the Jane Pulley
who married John Clemments in Wilson County, TN in 1809. I would like to
confirm that.

Joan has asked me to take on the task of administering this list.
This doesn't mean that I am the resident know-it-all of the CLEMENTs.
If we knew everything we wouldn't be here. <grin>
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Now might be a good time to post our lines so that we can see
if or where we might connect. I've temporarily increased the
maximum size of file to allow these files to be posted.
Have a GREAT day!
Gary

Looking for information on descendants of John (Jean) CLEMENT and Elizabeth Marie Le Feuvre - of Isle of Jersey. They had seven children, Jean (1815-1892)Elizabeth (1816-1818), Phillipe (1819-1902) Mary Anne, Peter (Pierre) 1823-1906) George (1826-1900) Elizabeth Anne (1828-1906). Peter was my G/Grandfather. deserting ship on arrival at Port Adelaide, Australia. Marrying Mary Mountford in 1872. The union produced 13 children, one of whom was my Grandmother, Nellie. Have accounted for 12 of the 13 children. The missing child being Ernest Alexander CLEMENT born 1881 - family rumour has it that he was a Jockey killed at a young age in a race. There has also been a suggestion that the race was in France. Any information would be appreciate. I also have some further information on G/Grandfathers siblings.

David- I have found something on the british civil wars site re: Gregory. According to Peacey, who updated the blurb for DNB, Gregory's father was John Clement of Plymouth- merchant and former mayor. I will try to forward what Dave Plant, the administrator for the site, sent me.
Further research in "Long Parliament" makes this possible- the authors stated that Gregoryu Clement and Jonathan Rashleight were related. Rashleigh owed CLement money, and he was a brother-in-law to a Clement cousin.
Researching further, I found a John Gregory Sparke, whose grandfather was a Gregory Cock- his daughter married a John Sparke- I don't know which one- there were a tribe of them in a row.
Anyway, I will try to forward the message I received from him,. Let me know if you get it. Thanks.
