They were married 03/31/1871 at Saint-Colomban, in Cornwall, but, unfortunately, the names of their parents were not recorded.
Just want to remind people that if they have Obits that would interest
Quebec researchers but don't want to subscribe to the
CAN-QC-OBITS-L(a)rootsweb.com list...
You can send them directly to me and I will post them
Those wishing to subscribe I would advise to do so in DIGEST mode
because it generates a lot of email.
To subscribe... send a blank email with ONLY the word SUBSCRIBES
in the Subject line to
CAN-QC-OBITS-D-request(a)rootsweb.com (digest mode)
CAN-QC-OBITS-L-request(a)rootsweb.com (list mode)
The Quebec Obits list has had over 8500 postings since May 2004 with over
40,000 obituaries and is growing by leaps and bounds.
It is a very busy list.
Many users have found it too busy to subscribe.
I want to remind you that you can search the Archives of the list at
http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/?list=CAN-QC-OBITS

Thank you so much for that.
He is also ancestor to my children (becca & Ben Clement).
I don't know much baout how these things work, either. I also think I've found that there is a copy at the Rutgers-Camden, NJ branch, about 20 miles from me. I have to contact them as well.
About 20 years ago, I was working on this, and first tripped across his speech. I thought I had made a copy, but cannot find it now. What I do remember is that according to the accounts, he said that he was guilty as charged, but that he had done so for the love of his people and his country. He also stated that he had believed the other men he had been working with to have been honorable men, but had found that not to be the case. The account also stated that he laid him down and allowed the executioners to have their way, neither crying out nor attempting to stop them. One of the others that day, by contrast, had tried to bite off the executioner's ear. The accounts state that it was so bad the executioner fainted, and his son had to finish it off. They executed four on that day, 2 several days later. They did ten in all that week, according to Samuel Pepys.
Thank you again for your help. As soon as I can get a copy of this I will be sure to send it on to you.
Merry Christmas.

I don't know if this will help, but I found the following Record on a web site. I do not know much about how these things work, but I think this manuscript may be found in the Cleveland Library. I also included the web site from were I got this reference. If you figure out how to get this manuscript, I’d appreciate some information on my ancestor’s last day in this world.
