>My mother-in-law, Preston Clement Jones wrote in her "Fond Memories" regarding the handed down history of her Clement family: "Twelve Clement brothers with "Uncle Jerry" as head of the clan (some had families) left England on a raft and went over to Holland. While living there, they built their own ship in which they came to America, settling in Virginia. After a time, five brothers decided to migrate further south. Somewhere about the state line, they came to five roads leading in different directions. There they decided each would take a separate road. So it was there they parted company and as far as anyone knows, were never in contact with each other again."
>I don't know what year this was, but we know that her heritage goes back to Captain Isaac Clement and Ann Denham Clement, Pendleton, SC.
>Do any of you have a similiar story? Would be interested to hear from you. Thanks, Barbara
Hello Bill & other researchers,
With reference to Bill's 12/15/09 e-mail to the Benjamin Clements Mailing
List :

--------------
For the Spring 2006, Vol. 9, No. 3, issue of Lawrence County Heritage, pp.
85-91, I (Linda) wrote an article entitled "Three + Generations of the
Reynolds Family In Lawrence Co., TN". Another cousin, James Richards, a
descendant of Richard Randolph Reynolds, supplied many of the wonderful photos
for this family. My direct line came down by way of Rachel and Hamilton's
son, Hughriah Reynolds, Sr. and grandson, Hughriah, Jr. My maternal
grandparents are also shown within one of the photos. Additionally, some of the
documents and photos were located by the very helpful staff of The Lawrence
County [TN] Genealogical Society.
Numerous Reynolds cousins and I have searched for over twenty years for
information on the family of Hamilton Reynolds. Earlier family members had,
thankfully, researched and documented various ancestors' information for us
to share.
Information on Rachel Clements Reynolds hasn't been as forthcoming. As
per John Clements' 1816 Will from Pendleton Co., SC (transcribed from loose
papers from the Clark Co., GA Will Book A, page 67), John mentioned a
daughter, Rachel Runnels [Reynolds]. Previous inquiries had not substantiated
that Rachel Clements Reynolds was indeed the daughter of this John Clements
although we thought that it was a strong possibility.
I noticed a 2008 e-mail from Bill that stated:
The Clement/s etc. DNA project proves that this John Clement is the son of
Benjamin Clement & Susanna Hill.
Therefore, I'd love to hear anything further that has been located and
confirmed on this very interesting line of Clements and Reynolds. Is there
reasonable documentation that John's wife was Mary Hannah Smith? Thank you
for any new information!
Linda
