La Nell,
Sorry, I have to admit that another "cousin" located the initial info on the
possible parents of our Rachel Clements Reynolds/Runnels (specifically the
Will mentioned earlier). The married name, time frame and location are our
"hopeful" claims to this lineage. To my knowledge, no additional info has
been located.
If anyone else can assist, please let us know. THANKS!
Linda
Hi Robin, I am Alta Daniel of Bowie, Tx. I am from the William W. Clements
& Martha Stedman Clement family by their daughter, Martha Clement and John
Tims.
Does anyone know the correct spelling used by our Clement & Stedman
families?

Yes, that is the Will I have. Do you have parents for this John? Peter
Acker who witnessed the signing is Nancy's father-in-law and my DAR patriot.
I have a lot on the Acker line but not much on the Clements line. William
Acker and Nancy Clements moved their family to the St. Clair Co., AL (Benton
Co., Calhoun Co., Etowah Co.) area. They seemed to have lived in the same
location but the counties changed around them. As I research, I'll keep you
informed.

I have a John Clements b c1783 VA who "supposedly" was the Father of my
GGrandfather Jacob Clements b 1826 to 1831 IL. My John "supposedly" m a
Sarah (?) b 1811 KY (probably a 2nd or 3rd marriage). I have been unable to
break through from Jacob to John or document this as factual but it is all I
have. Unfortunately, for the sake of genealogy researchers, I have found
hundreds of John Clements.

Hi,
Does anyone on this list descend from a John Clements I think (maybe) he
is the son of Benjamin and Susanna Hill. I am an Acker descendant of Nancy
Clements who married William Acker in the Pendleton area of SC. Nancy was
born abt 1775 and Her father was a John Clements whose Will was recorded in
Clark Co. GA in 1818, but he seemed to have lived in Pendleton SC. There
was a John Clements in Pendleton in 1800 and 1810. The Acker family that
Nancy married into was prominent in that area of SC. Is this John Clements
the son of Benjamin and Susannah. I have a transcription of a Will of that
Benjamin and it does list a John. I would like to tie the two together if
possible for DAR. I have entered DAR on my Acker line and it would be very
easy to get a supplemental on Capt Benjamin and Susannah If there is indeed
a connection.
Help!

Marna,
Are you interested in adding some Livingston Co and Crittenden Co KY documentation on Isham Clement Jr and his descendants to the William Clement web site? I have a lot of secondary sources but I think I can come up w/ photocopies of originals.
Thanks,
--Rhonda.
William Clement Sr>William Clement Jr>Isham Clement Sr>Isham Clement Jr>Elizabeth Booker Clement>etc!
Rhonda,
I have not tied my ancestry down to a specific Clement. My female
ancestor married Edward Wade (born about 1727?). More than one
researcher says that it is Mary Clements or Clemmons. There has been so
much controversy and lack of sources over her parentage that I just have
practically given up on my Clements research. I hope that someone on
this site might have some answers.
However, I read your message with great interest. I am also a Manus,
Manis, Manes Descendant. I wonder if we share ancestry. I descend from
Seth Manes & Susan Patsy Fields. My grandmother was the daughter of
Nicholas Menlus Manes (William L., George R., Seth). Many of us Manes
Descendants are thinking about our own site on Myfamily.com.
I hope to hear from you!

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your help on this. I have found a reference to Brenda Joyce
Jerome on-line: "Brenda J. Jerome, CGRS, bjj(a)evansville.net". I have
so-o-o-o many lines from Crittenden Co that I'd love to get at the source
material. Before you go to any trouble, I'll make inquiries locally in
Crittenden Co to see if they have a copy of her material -- or other
Crittenden Press source material. If I come up with nothing, I'll be back
in touch with you regarding Brenda.
http://www.angelfire.com/ky2/dycusburg/ has some Dycusburg Newspaper
abstracts on-line (Dycusburg is in Crittenden Co KY) -- I found countless
references to my Griffin and Owen lines; I haven't searched yet for my
Clement and Coleman lines, but there may be something useful in it.
Thanks again, Bruce.

Wow! Great! A Manus/Manes/Manis!
Hi Jeanette, I'm really glad to meet you. Since we are straying to a
non-Clement line, perhaps we should e-mail directly. My e-mail address is
rmiller(a)brtc.net.
Also, on your Clement line, do you know if your female ancestor lived in
Kentucky or Virginia -- or some other state?
I'll send you some of my Manus info off-list and see if we meet up somewhere
in the family lines. I see you are also researching Bells. There is a Ruby
Bell thrown into my lines as well.
I also have some Taylors in town that are cousins on my Hook/Gholson side.

Rhonda, sorry to say I don't live in the western Kentucky area. It's such a
beautiful part of the country. I live on the coast of North Carolina near
Wilmington. Mr. Tucker's wife still lives in their home on main street in
Marion. She too is pretty knowledgeable about the Clement family. She was the
one doing the driving on our visit. Stay in touch ! Frank
Hi Bruce,
Sounds great!
But I'm glad to go directly to the Crittenden Press source -- is it in the
county library? I live in Western Kentucky, though not in Crittenden Co,
and would be glad to go to the various local sources for those Western
Kentucky descendants who are no longer in this area. In fact I'm
researching many family lines from this area.

Hi Rhonda, I too am a descendent of the western Kentucky Clement family. The
area around Marion is a beautiful place. I was fortunate to meet and be
taken
on a tour of the countryside by a descendent of Isham Clement, Jr. through
his son Isaac Newton Clement, Thomas Nunn Tucker, who was very knowledgeable
of our family history in the area. He took us to the valley where Isham, Jr.
owned land and it literally encompassed a whole valley. He also showed us
where the Isham Clement, Jr. cemetery used to be but was plowed under by
farmers. I had a great aunt who had a home in the area that Thomas Tucker
had
taken a mantle out of John Rudd Clements homeplace and installed it in her
home. It was a very enlightening visit. Thomas died the year after we were
there. Good to hear from others who are descended from Isham, Jr. Frank

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for responding!
I am descended from Elizabeth Booker Clement, daughter of Isham Clement, Jr.
I did not know that Isham Clement Jr had a son named Patrick Henry Clement.
It's interesting to know now that we have a whole OH branch. Like you I
wandered away from the "family farm" and moved to Kansas City and San
Francisco; but to raise my sons, I came back to the "old home place",
Western Kentucky.
I'm glad to meet you, Bruce. I am looking for cousins who might still have
any old diaries, pictures, or family stories that have survived about Isham
Clement, Jr, and/or his children (or his ancestors for that matter).
Unfortunately, we had our ancestral homes burn on at least two occasions --
which wiped out our family history items. I am hoping that some of our
cousins might still have bits and pieces of our collective Clement family
history left.
Happy Thanksgiving!
--Rhonda.

Hi there Cassandra,
My name is Pamela Clements Hayes. I live in Northern Alabama.
I descend from William Clement Sr (d 1760), William Clement, Jr.
c1700-1766),
Isham Clements c1735-c1802), Mary Elizabeth Clement c1762-1830, Mary H.
Phillips 1783-1868,
Sarah J. Smith 1828-1893, Andrew Clement 1861-1936, Eugene Clement
1893-1957,
Bernard Clement 1918-1981, Hayes Clements 1938-1991, ME.
My Great-great-greatgrandmother Sarah J. Smith married a Stephan B.
Clement. He came here from France when he was 8 years old. I was really
surprised when tracing back my grandmother and finding out that she was
from a Clement line also. I haven't been able to trace Stephan Clement
back any further than when he married my grandmother in Alabama.
Grandchildren have passed the stories on about him being a French man and
in one of the census records his birth place was France.
I haven't written to the group for awhile. I was Pam Clements Goss. I
got married a little over a year ago.

Hi Frank,
I am glad to hear that you were able to see the Isham Jr valley. I have
seen a book in the McCracken Co Public Library,Paducah KY, that stated that
the cemetery was in a farmer's field. It sounds like it is gone now. My
Owen family cemetery has also had the stones removed by unknowns -- such a
loss. Now that Thomas Tucker is gone, do you have any other contacts that
know the area and perhaps family stories as well?
I, too, am glad to talk to other Isham Jr. descendants. I don't mean to be
too personal -- just let me know if I am -- but do you live in the Western
KY area?
