Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Greetings CLEMENT researchers,
With a bit of time on my hands, I'd like to do something productive by
working on the CLEMENT web site -
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clement/
If you have a CLEMENT related document that you have already
transcribed, please consider sharing it in case it might be of help to
others. If you are willing to have your transcript on the CLEMENT web
site, please send it and I'll put it on right away. You will be cited
as the transcriber.
If you have a document (or documents) you think would be good to have
posted, but don't have time to transcribe, please consider sending a
photocopy. I will transcribe the document and place it on the web site,
citing you as contributor.
Additionally, it would be helpful to have a brief biographical sketch
for each descendant on their respective web site page. However, not
having researched each and every descendant, this is not something I am
able to do. I would like to enlist your help with this. The standard
vital information (i.e. birth, marriage, death dates and places, and
spouse) would be a good starting point. The format of the web site is
such that each item is linked to a supporting document. Therefore,
statements made in a biographical sketch would be linked to their source
(for example - marriage date/place linked to the extract of the marriage
register; birth dates/places linked to a military pension affidavit or
other document; events/dates linked to Bible records; etc.).
If you would like to prepare a biographical sketch for one of your
ancestors for their page on the web site, please do. Consider
collaborating on this with other list members who are researching the
same person. The mail list itself could be used as an avenue for this.
So far the web site includes parts of four generations. Your
contribution to documenting the lives of the descendants of William
CLEMENT (d. 1760) is solicited and welcome.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Marna
P.S. If you have noticed an error, or disagree with anything on the web
site, I would appreciate hearing from you about it. mlc

I have posted at least a couple of times to the list regarding this issue.
The Anne Taylor that has been reported as being the wife of William Clement
was married to another man entirely. A search of the Online Archive should
turn up my past postings, especially in regard to the primary sources which
show that the Anne Taylor attributed as the wife of William Clement was the
wife of another man.
I am aware of no PRIMARY source records which even suggest the pre-marital
identity of Anne Clement.

According to Page 81 of the register of Christ Church, Middlesex Co.,
VA, Margaret Jennings married 28 July 1708 Isaac Hill.
Is there any documentation to support Ann Christian as wife of Isaac
Hill?
Richard K.
The will goes with William, Jr., the son of William (d.~1760).
William Jr. is the child that you have listed after Benjamin
Clement. I would suspect that the will for William, Sr. is on
Marna's site. If not, let me know and I will typed it up. I think
that these are the only two Clement wills that I have transcrip-
tions for.

To Cindy who must have typed her little fingers off to get the Geofrey and
Elizabeth Clement desedent information to us I want you to know how much it
is appreciated.
I don't know if we will ever get the exact linage on our Francis
Clement/Clemons who came to Breathitt County with his sons Benjemin, William
and daughter Margaret Clement. Benjemin bn 1792 in Lee Co VA has Clemons
descennts all over Breathit and of course beyond now. We know that Frances
comes from the Va Clements. Family tradition was passed down in Breathitt
that he came from a wealthy slave plantation in Va, I thought I had hit pay
dirt when I found Clement Hill, but Breathitt Co Francis is not of that
family. He is close, but like you say with everyone giving their kids the
same name who can be sure. Ithink Francis was William's son for now, but
which William for sure? Thanks again for all your work.

In the name of God, Amen. The Seventeenth day of June
one thousand seven hundred and sixty four, I, William Clement
of the parish of Raleigh in the County of Amelia being of perfect
health thanks to the Almighty God, therefore calling to mind the
mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men
once to die do make and ordain this to be my last will and testa-
ment, that is to say, first I give & recommend my soul unto the hands
of Almighty God that gives it and my body do I recommend to the
earth to be buried at the discretion of my children, not doubting but
at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
Mighty power of God, and as touching my worldly estate herewith it
hath pleased the Almighty God to help me dipose of the same in the
following manner and for: To wit:
Item: I give to my son Isham Clement two negroes to wit: Ned
and old Phillis and the land I formerly lived at containing 275 acres
and all my "Smith" tools and my part of the mill with ten acres of
land joining the mill house, and I desire my son Isham may keep my
hole estate together and not divide till TABBS debt paid by the
mill and by the negroes work, working the negroes as they stand, not
interupting my wife of her house wench nor her affairs.
Item: I give to my daughter Mary Clement one negro, to wit Jean,
the young sorrel mare and side saddle and bridle and the bed in the
little room and all the furniture belonging to her.
Item: I give to my daughter Martha Clement one negroe to wit:
Carter, and the best bed upstairs with all the furniture belonging
thereto and the Roan horse.
Item: I give to my son William Clement two negroes to wit: James
and Hannah and the land I had of George Evans containing 150 acres
and the bed by the chimney up stairs which he lies on and all the furni-
ture belonging thereto and the horse colt and my saddle and bridle and
six head of cattle and my gun.
Item: I give to my daughter Rebekah Clement one negroe to wit:
Young PHILLISANDA, a good be, or ten pounds cash.
Item: I give to my son Edmund Walker Clement two negroes to wit:
Sam and Ben.
Item: I give to my son John Clement two negroes to wit: Lucy and
young Caesar.
I give to my daughter Ann Clement one negroe to wit: Sarah.
Item: I lend to my loving wife Ann Clement three negroes to wit:
Daniel and old Caesar and Temp and the land and plantation where
I now live with all the rest of my estate not mentioned, all which I lend
to her during her natural life or widowhood, and after death or marriage
my will and desire is that the part of estate which I lent to my loving wife
may be equally divided between my four children, Rebeckah, Edmund,
John and Ann, except my land that I give to sons Edmund and John, the
land where I now live and the other part of this legacy to be divided
between
the four mentioned, and I do appoint my loving wife Ann Clement executrix
for Edmund Walker Clement and John Clement and for ANN Clement and I
do appoint my son Isham Clement executor for the rest of my children,
Mary, Martha, and William and Rebeckah of this last Will and testament.

Sorry List. I was wrong about a clement being in the originial Jamestown

There is a large family chart prepared by Coleman C. Clement in 1963. He
indicates that it may be possible that William & George may be sons that
there is no baptism record for. He indicates that they are not documented.
He used a dash line on his chart. This may be where people think that
William is the son. He says that there are gaps in dates of births which
could indicate that there were additional chilren. Records were lost or
destroyed. Diana
