Billie,
I am not sure exactly where the connection is, but my husband is descended
from JONES and CLEMENT also. His ggrandfather was Lewis Bevel JONES that
was the son of William Freeman JONES and Rachel E. BUTTERWORTH. It looks as
if Rachel was a sister of your Mary Ann BUTTERWORTH? I have this info, but
no documentation of William and Rachel. This was on my father-in-law's
side. (The CLEMENT connection)
On my mother-in-law's side is the CLEMENT connection also. Her ggrandfather
was C. W. CLEMENT of Anderson County, SC. Do you show anything about this
name in your info? He married Hesky MAJOR.
Will be glad to share what info I have on both sides.
Barbara Jones

Stephen Butterworth was living in the household of his son-in-law, Moses W.
Robertson, in Murray County, Georgia in 1850. He is said to have died soon
after and is traditionally said to be buried in the Eton Cemetery in Eton,
Murray Co., GA near the tombstone of his first cousin and brother-in-law,
Hugh Clement. The grave is marked by a field stone.
May I ask where you found the marriage date for Stephen and Rachel (Clement)
Butterworth? I can document their marriage through deed records where they
are listed as man and wife and Captain Isaac Clement mentions both his
daughter, Rachel (Clement) Butterworth and her husband, Stephen Butterworth,
in his will.
I would appreciate learning where you obtained the date of their marriage,
whether from a public or family record, etc.
Thank you.

For you Tom and for others who may have an interest this is a list of the
information found in the Bible of Nannie Lee Clement. The Bible is in poor
condition. It was used many years to press flowers and to store odds and
ends of papers. The backs are off . It was published by the American Bible
Society in Hartford by S. Andrus and son 1845.
Family Record:
Charles was born 1 June 1816
Green was born 15 May 1824

owned.
In another area was listed: Ralph A. Clement b. Aug 9, 1868 and Estella J.
Clement b. July 5, 1817 (?)
Nannie Lee was the daughter of Dr. George W. Clement Jr. She never married
and died at about the age of 17 from tuberculosis.
I don't know if this will help famiy research , but it was interesting. Wanda

>Hi, my name is Wanda Isaacs and and I am a descendant of William CLEMENT
d.1760 , Amelia Co. Va and his son Benjamin CLEMENT. My ancestry is through
Adam Clement' his son Dr. George W. Clement Sr., his son; Dr. George W.
Clement Jr., his son; Ralph Alexander Clement , his son; Adam Smith Clement
(who was one of the kindest sweetest men who ever lived) and his son; Romey
Alexander Clement (my father). My mother Barbara Clement and my brother
Billy have spent many years researching the family tree-I am only beginning
and becoming addicted quickly. We ( as most of you are ) would like to find
proof of William
>Clement's ancestors. I had the privelege of meeting Maud Carter Clement
about 3-4 months before she died. At the age of 90 she was still a very
elegant and gracious lady and extremely alert. Her research material is in
storage in the Aldred (?) Library at the University of Virginia at
Charlottesville. I have not seen it ,but if anyone decides to go , you must
call ahead to make sure you will be able to access those materials. At the
time my mother and I went several years ago, the materials were in boxes and
had never been indexed and that particular day no one was there to allow us
to see them.
>My mother has a family Bible that belonged to Ralph Alexander Clement's
sister Nannie. In it there were several names listed but we do not know if
they were family members or slaves because the word SOLD was beside some of
the names.
>I am looking forward to sharing research with all my "cousins". Wanda
>
Hi Wanda,
Glad to see that you have joined the list. I would very much like to see the
Bible of Nannie Clement posted, I am sure there are others that would like to
see it also. You probably already know this but the wife of Dr Geo W Clement
Jr., [Nancy Clement] was a daughter of Adam Clement. Thus Dr Geo and Nancy
his wife were first cousins. My great-grandmother Nannie Jennings was a first
cousin to your Ralph Alexander Clement. Nannie Jennings' mother was nee Mary
A C Clement, a sister to Nancy Clement.
Regards,
Tom Almquist
Wanda,
Hi! I, along with Richard Kesler, are probably your closest descendants
on this list. I think Richard is pretty close. I've come across his name with
a lot of the people I've looked for. As for myself, I am your second cousin
twice removed. My great grandmother, Hattie Clement Reynolds, and your dad
are first cousins. You and my grandmother are second cousins. I have a letter
from your mother that I received in Oct. of 1999. My grandmother, mother, and
I visited Ararat last March. We tried to stop in and say hi to your mother
where my grandmother believed she lived, but nobody appeared to be home. My
great great grandfather, George Harden Clement, is supposedly buried
somewhere around where your mother lives at least when we stopped by the
Patrick County Historical Society and searched for information we came across
some of your mother's research that had that information. Well, it's so good
to see you on the list. Can't wait to talk to you anymore.
