I have written a book entitled Barnes-Ralph Seasons Gone By Colonial
America to 2000. It is about my family Barnes and their allied families.
It is about 400 pages. It will be 8 1/2 X11 case bound (dark blue with gold
lettering), smyth sewn in 32's, 60# white offset paper. It includes
William & Ann Clement's children Benjamin and William. I follow Benjamin's
line down to my Great-grandmother Rosa Clement Barnes. The Clement allied
families included are Bingham, Allen, Irby, Hill, and Jennings. There is a
picture of Clement-Hill, wills of William, Benjamin & Isaac Clement. The
bible record of Steven Newton Clement of TN. Bingham wills. It contains the research of Katie Clement Mc Murrey. I would like
to know if there is an interest in it before I print copies. The printer said that it will take 8 weeks for delivery after they get it. I am indexing it now. They will be
about $40 each. Please contact me at dallison2(a)neo.rr.com. Do not contact
me through the Clement-Benjamin list. Thank you. Diana
Beth,
I was at the home 2 weeks ago today. My attempt at speaking to the renters
was thus: "Is your Mommy or Daddy home?" They shook their head no. I
think there were at least 3 children running around inside the house
unsupervised. I will refer you to my message of March 15 in which I
indicated that the condition of the house can be classified as "neglected."
Shall we complain to English Company?
Tom/Baltimore

Beth - Research in the Court House at Chatham, VA, which is the county seat of
Pittsylvania Co. It's located on "Business U.S. 29" about 10 miles north of
Danville, VA. "Bypass U.S. 29" goes around the town, so you'll need to take the
busines exit to go into the town. You can park in several parking lots behind
the courthouse. They have good records there. Enjoy your research.
I don't know anything about the circumstances at Clement Hill.

good luck on your trip ... Charlie
Okay! This is it! I am finally able to go to Clement Hill. We are going to
visit my grandmother in the Tidewater area of Virginia tomorrow. While we are
there, I am going to get to do some research. Just a few questions. Has
anyone talked to the renters of Clement Hill? What is the state of the house?
Are the people there friendly? If you have any other advice or know of any
good places to do research in either Patrick County or Pittsylvania County,
please let me know. Thanks so much.

is the child that Elizabeth was "with".
Elizabeth (Clement) Ford, widow, mrd Gerrard Ellyson of New Kent following
Capt Hezekiah Ford's death. The couple moved to Cumberland Co, VA where

Hello, descendants of William Clement, and Hezekiah Ford.
By Amelia Co. VA Deed Book 1-297, 18 Sep 1739, William Clement (Sr)
sold to Hezekiah Ford, 200 ac. on southside Selco(?) Bout Run. Wit:
John Clement, Mary Clement, Bathsheba Clement.
Am I right in my understanding that William Clement's daughter Elizabeth
married Hezekiah Ford?
In Amelia Co, VA Will Book1-157, probated 28 Oct 1760, William Clement
named, among his legatees: daughter Elizabeth Ellyson; Ann Ford daughter
of Hezekiah Ford; and Hezekiah Ford son of sd Hezekiah decd.
In Amelia Co, VA Will Book 1-81, written Feb 11, 1752, probated Jul 23,
1752, Hezekiah Ford named among his legatees: wife Elizabeth; son John
Ford; son William Ford; dau Mary Ford; dau Sarah Ford; dau Ann Ford;
(unnamed) child my wife is now with; nephew John Ford; and bequeathed
to "my brother John Beal cloth out of my store for one suit of
clothes". He also named "my loving brother John Beal, my nephew John
Ford, and my loving wife Elizabeth Ford" as executors and executrix"
My question is this: Who was "my loving brother John Beal" referred to
in the will of Hezekiah Ford?
In a codicil, dated Jun 6, 1752, Hezekiah Ford appointed friend Samuel
Cobbs as an additional executor, as I am now in Surry Co, VA.
I will appreciate any information on the aboved named John Beal.

If you can connect him to Adam Dabney Clement b. 10 Jun 1825, d. 1905, had a
son John. This Adam was the son of Alexander who was the son of Adam &
Agnes Johnson, Adam was the son of Benjamin & Susanna. That is all I had
in my data base.
Hello,
I've recently run across a Clement intermarriage with one of my
Jones-related lines. He is Adam Dabney Clement (1857-1920) who married 2nd
Loula Adams (1872-1968). They were married in Pittsylvania County, VA
20-Jun-1893 and are buried in Leemont Cemetery in Danville, VA. His parents
are identified as Adam and M. L. Clement in the marriage record. My
question is, is he a member of the Benjamin Clement family and is there
anybody who has a descendancy of Adam and Loula that they'd be willing to
send my way? Thanks!
Tom/Baltimore
Dear Cousins,
A few months ago one of our correspondents on this list paid a visit to
Clement Hill and noted it's delapidated state. I opined that I had visited
the home back in 1995 and it appeared to me to be in excellent shape.
This past Sunday I visited the home with a cousin and was aghast to find
that the home, sadly is not being maintained. As some of you know it is a
rental property and is owned by the English Company. The current tenants
are leaving scraps of trash strewn about the yard and half the paint is off
the house.
Marna, I understand you've had some contact with the owners -- is there some
influence we can exert on the owners to pay better attention to the home?
Tom
(back from an exhausting/exhilarating trip to Pittsylvania Co.)
A full transcription of William Clement's Amelia Co., VA will dated 18
Feb 1760, proven 28 Feb 1860, is included on Pages 312-314 of the book
"Copeland, Bostick, Patton, and Allied Families" by Virginia Copeland
Jantz.
Richard K.
Willie, do you have a copy of William Clement's will dated 18 Feb 1760?
William's children Benjamin, William, John, Francis, Elizabeth, Ann and
Barshaba Clement & spouse surnames are mentioned. Diana
Hello Diana,
No I don't have a copy of William's will. If you do, could you send me a
copy? I would really appreciate it. If not, we will have to get one.
Wonder if it is online?
thanks,
Willie
Hello Dottie,
I am posting this on the mailing list in the hopes that someone else can help
us.
All I have on Clement is Ann who m. John Gent Pigg and her father William
Clement.
I did not have her brother Benjamin. I really didn't understand your
message. Who are the parents of who? It is not the way you put it but when
you are starting with one, it's hard to tell if your message is going forward
or backwards. :)
Thanks, Willie
Willie:
For Clement, go to the Clement family on Rootsweb.
For Pigg, refer to the book "Haley and Related Families" by Edward
Franklyn Haley.
