Hello all! I am doing the Rootsweb list search right now, and I did a search
for this list with the words Clement Hill. Well, I am wondering where this is
located. Up until two years ago, my great grandmother (whose maiden name was
Clement) was alive and I used to go to her house several times a year. She
lived in Patrick County, VA. She was a Reynolds when she passed away. Anyway!
My grandmother lives in the Tidewater area of Virginia so to get from Patrick
County over there we had to go through Danville. Is Clement Hill around here?
How do I get there off of Highway 58? Thanks for your help.
Beth

Hello Everyone!
Thanks to Marna Clemons, I found this list last night and have been
reading (and printing out) posts from your archives much of this afternoon.
I would like very much to ask for your help on my believed line:

Can anyone here prove the connection between Sarah FORD and John MANN to
William Ford MANN? I have the marriage license of Sarah and John (consent by
Sarah's guardian, John RIGHT [sic], witnessed by John and Mary RIGHT), but I
have never seen any documented proof of their children. ???
Then, have any of you found documentation on William F. and Elizabeth
(WOODSON) MANN's children? I descend from believed son, Thomas MANN who
married Polly PERKINS (d/o Jesse PERKINS and Nancy SHEPHERD) on 29 June 1801
in Fluvanna Co., VA.. Thomas and Polly had son Jesse Perkins MANN who m.
Mary Lee THORP (d/o John THORP and Rebecca LEE) on 18 July 1824 in Shelby
Co., KY. Their son, William Ford MANN, b. 5 June 1825 in Shelby Co., KY., d.

IN..
Mary "Polly" PIGG was the d/o Anderson PIGG, Jr. and Eda DINSMORE (d/o
Thomas DINSMORE and Patsy OGLESBY). Anderson Jr. the son of Anderson PIGG,
Sr. and Mary "Polly" PERRY (d/o Lewis PERRY and Mary BURRUS). Anderson Sr.
the s/o William and Mary ( ___?) PIGG, and William was the son of Paul PIGG
and Sarah ( ____?) Paul's first wife was supposedly Elizabeth OSBOURN, by
whom he had 3 children: Paul, John Ghent, and Elizabeth Aston PIGG.
It looks to me, from reading some of your posts, that most of my names
come into the CLEMENT line, and that certainly adds strength to some of the
more loosly assumed connections. Have some of these been proven now?
Of course, I will be happy to share anything I have with any of you.
Thanks!

Barbara and all -
Here is the link to the Texas Bob site which carries the Witcher-Clement case that I referred to in an earlier post.

His correct name may be R. McSpadden, as that is who holds the CR. He has several VA famillies on his website, in addition to Witcher, Clement.

Greetings,
Several members of the CLEMENT-Benjamin mail list are published authors of
genealogical materials. I have not personally seen any of their work, but
I have seen references to them in catalogues and card catalogs.
If you have published any type of genealogical material (i.e. a compiled
genealogy / family history, transcribed records, family newsletters, etc.)
please tell us about your work.

DeRoy,
Thank you very much for responding to my inquiry. You do have the correct
Cornelia Clement. The dates I gave you were from memory , let me correct them.
Jesse Howard Jones Jan 9, 1851-Jan12, 1900
Nannie Catherine Jennings Apr 17, 1855-Jan12, 1893
Cornelia Emma Clement May 30, 1861-Feb 1907 md Oct 4 1893.
I have a picture of the monument at Springhill Cemetery for this family. I
will certainly contact Mr Dodson. I am trying also to find out about a child
they had named Thelma Jones born Nov 19, 1898. She was my grandfather's half
sister and I have just recently learned of her. I don't even know if she grew
to adulthood. All I know is that she was alive when her father died.
Again thanks to all who have input information.
Regards,
Tom Almquist
Johnnye,
You caught my attention with the name Vincent Witcher. My gg grandfather's
name was Vincent Witcher Phillips. He was the grandson of Elizabeth Clement
(daughter of Isham, son of William Jr.). Even though this is not the same
line, I would be very interested in checking out the sites you mentioned.
Thank you!

Tom Almquist - Marna L. Clemons asked me to reply to your post of 20
Oct, 1999. I have searched my PERSONAL ANCESTRAL FILE database, and
found a "Cornelia "Neal" Emma Clements (1861-1907), daughter of Parham
Branch Clements (1829-1879) and wife Patience Forte Wiles. This
Cornelia married 1893 Lunchburg, VA, Jesse Howard Jones (1851-1900),
and both were buried in Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA. This
information was provided to me by a descendant of Parham Branch
Clements, named: Mr. Roger Clements Dodson, Route 2, Box 674, Ringgold,
VA 24568. You may want to write to Mr. Dodson. I don't know if he has
an e-mail address.
>From my own research, I have the ancestry of Parham Branch Clements as
follows:
Mayo Clements (c1801-1880) & wife Jane Mullins
Joseph Clements (c1771-c1844) & wife Susannah Haile Woodson
Isham Clements Sr (c1735-1802) & wife Sarah Scott
William Clement Jr (c1700-1766) & wife Mary ___
William Clement Sr (?-1760) & wife Ann ___.
My great grandfather was Bedford Booker Clements (c1836-1865), a brother
of Parham Branch Clements, and I have thoroughly researched my line back
to William Clement Sr (d 1760 Amelia Co, VA).

I will welcome corrections.
We have the odd situation wherein Sarah Isabell Clement, daughter of Dr.
George Washington Clement and Agnes Johnson, had a father, a brother,
and a husband all named George Washington Clement.
Richard K.
Hi to all. Sorry for the confusion concerning George Washington Clement. In
the 1850 census there were at least three Geo W Clement/s maybe four listed
in a three county area.
Going back to the will of Adam Clement who died 1858, in the will he listed
as sons and executors George W Clement and Adam Clement Jr., . I believe
that the son Geo W was dead by 1886 when the deed was made. In the deed,
George W Clement Jr., was Adam the dec'ds SON-IN-LAW. So… Adam had a SON
George W Clement AND a son-in-law George W Clement Jr., AT the time of the
deed, George W and Nancy Clement were residents of Patrick Co. If you look at
the deed's language, wherever a husband and wife is listed, the wife is the
one who is a daughter or granddaughter of Adam Clement the dec'd. At that
point in time the female had to have a husband's legal release to make any
transaction. Even if it were her own inheritance. Nancy Clement was a
daughter of Adam Clement [ Campbell County marriage register, July 27 1841
Geo W Clement and Nancy Clement bride's father listed as Adam
Clement][Pittsylvania Census 1850. George Clement Jr., physician age 38.
Nancy Clement age 24]. Mary C A Jennings (Clement ) died in 1869 and her
husband died in 1864 so only her children are listed as heirs.
I think Geo's [ s/o Adam] wife was Sarah for there is a Sarah buried at
Oakdale. When Jesse H Jones and Nannie Jennings [a granddaughter of Adam
named in the deed] married in 1871 they were married at the home of George W
Clement, I believe this one was her uncle-her mother's brother. I have a
letter written by Chas Jennings[he was the 'infant' in the deed] in 1933 to
my grandfather when he is talking about old times as a child at his Clement
family houses near Molley's creek.
To make matters worse, Adam Clement who married Agnes Johnson and were the
parents of the Adam above also had a son named George W Clement who was
probably the father of Geo Jr., but this is just a guess.
Hope that this hasn't made matters worse.
Regards,
Tom Almquist
