Clemens List:
The Raymond B. Bell Anthology has his genealogy for Mark Twain at:

There is also an Adams Clemens genealogy at:

Like many other Clemens researchers I grew up with the information that we
were related to Mark Twain - to date that has been unproven. Some years ago
I made a trip to the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut - - and one
of the docents remarked, "Oh, another Mark Twain descendant! it was then I
knew that a goodly number of Clemens thought they were related to Mark
Twain.
However, the reality of being a CLEMENS has led to many happy hours of
researching.

hello,
I am new to this list and seeking help on finding information on Susannah CLEMENS who was born in 1790 in PA and married Johannes/John/Jonathan WOLF of PA.
I am especially interested in finding out where she was born and who her parents/siblings were. The most likely counties are Berks and Schuylkill and Lebanon, PA.
Thank you for any help,
Elizabeth
Dear Christi: I am a Clemens descendant, but not from the same line as
Samuel L. "Mark Twain" Clemens, although some related researchers have attempted to
make the connection. The records I have show that John Marshall Clemens b.
1798 had two sisters:
Elisabeth Moore Clemens, b. 1801 married John Nichols Pollard. Caroline
Clemens b. 1805 married Isaac Withers Settle. There would appear to be no truth
to the connection to McClatchey. There was another sibling, Pleasant Clemens
b. 1800. date of birth, sex and date of death as well as any possible
marriage not revealed in the records I have seen.
Good hunting.
Glenn Edmison,
GGrandson of Robert Menzer Clemens.
Were any of these Clemens in PA, possibly Somerset, Westmoreland, Cambria,
or Bedford Co.'s?

I come from a line of McClatchey's - specifically my great grandmother
was Iva Gimima McClatchey born 8/31/1887 in York, Nebraska ( York
County). Her father was John McClatchey ( born 11/4/1854, died 3/25/1945)
Her mother was Catherine Hathaway. They were married 3/14/1880.
I was told by my mother that John McClatchey's mother was a Clemens and
she was a sister to Samuel Clemen's father ( John Marshall Clemens).
Does anyone have information to prove or deny this? Is there any
connection to the Clemens family and the McClatchey family? I see some
postings but does anyone have this John McClatchey or Iva McClatchey in
their family tree? There are ten siblings to Iva and one of them is a
John Cambridge McClatchey so it may be a little confusing.
Any help at all would be appreicated.
Thanks,
Christi Schultz
