Message Board Post:
I am researching Essex Photographers and have a George Benjamin Cleghorn (b: 1871 in Hackney, London - d: 11 Dec 1933 in Bocking, Essex) who was a 'Photographer and Patent Medicine Vendor' in Barfield Road, West Mersea, Essex (circa 1910).
He was married to Helena (Ellen) Hart and had 6 children.
I believe his father was Thomas Keddell Cleghorn (b: abt 1838 in Milton Next Gravesend, Kent - d: 1892) a Hemp Merchant in Milton next Gravesend and Hackney.
His father was Thomas Keddel Cleghorn (b: abt 1803 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex - d: 6 Oct 1866 in Hackney) of Cleghorn & Dunbar - Hemp and Flax Merchants.
There may also be a connection to John Cleghorn, the Engraver of architecture; landscape-painter, and wood-carver.
I would be most grateful for any information on the family and their connections.
Regards - Bobfilm
