Hi Caroline, thanks for your offer, I would be pleased to receive any information or contacts.
On a very brief stopover in Manchester in 2006, I uncovered some information on Ashworth Clegg, brother of Elizabeth (Betty) Pershouse.
It revealed his and thus Betty's father to be James Clegg and their mother was Mary of Manchester. His grandfather was the the Rev. James Clegg M.D. who died at Chinley near Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire on 5 August 1755. He was a prominant non-conformist minister. His wife was Ann Champion whom he married in 1703 and she died on 30 January 1740/41. The Rev. James and Ann Clegg had the following children:
James Clegg b: 5 September, 1705
Mary ?
Ann Clegg b: 4 March, 1706/07 d: 15 October, 1787
Samuel Waterhouse
Margaret Clegg b: 15 July, 1711 d: 26 August, 1723
John Clegg b: 24 March, 1712/13
Joseph Clegg b: 10 October, 1716
Sarah Clegg b: 7 January, 1717/18
Ebeneezer Clegg b: 20 December, 1719 d: 13 March, 1720/21
Elizabeth Clegg b: 24 June, 1721 d: 27 January, 1793
Thomas Middleton
Benjamin Clegg b: 19 April, 1724
Regards
Wayne Roberts
