Wonder if anyone can help?
I am trying to find the birth index for my grandfather -
Richard Henry Clegg born 25th June 1905.
I know his parents names but don't know where he was born - mostly likely to be Todmorden or Fylde/Blackpool/Fleetwood/Cleveleys. (all UK)
I have a certified copy of his baptism in Todmorden when he was 3months old but have had no luck in finding his birth index to allow me to order her certificate.
Help of any sort greatly appreciated.

Hi
Try posting again and including dates and locations.
I always find you get better responses if you post these in your subject - people don't have to read every message then.
Good luck

The Stansfield area (the little I know of it) is quite rural on the hillside above Todmorden.
I think I have a John Clegg who could be your chap's brother or even son who is from the same area.
My John went on to move to the Blackpool area and had my grandfather - Richard Henry in 1905.

Although there is no way of knowing for certain it could be or probably is William Clegg born 1803. He would be the grandfather to Athalia Clegg, the one known Clegg in my tree. James was his son. If there were another photo to compare it to we could know for certain.

Hi,
a few years down the road I have connected up to this.
I have her listed as: Abigail Clogg,
but I am not so sure about the connection to Joseph Spear. Which is the spelling of his name in my tree.
I am finding a different spouse for Joseph Spear in the other trees but have not been able to verify either one to my satisfaction.
I have Joseph Spear b. May 14, 1701
and a Marriage date: Nov 10, 1720
But that is all currently
I have also seen an alternate spelling of her name as: Abigail Cleeg

Forgot top answer your other question.
I purchased the photo at an Antique store in Independence, MO. The reason? Someone in PA and NC posted about a photo album in an Antique store in NC. When I inquired about it I decided to purchase the album. It contained photos of collateral relatives.
I am returning the favor by purchasing photos that have names on them and attempting to get them to descendents.

Sandy,
Where did your Joseph and Myra Clegg reside? The photo appears to be early 1900's, possibly very late 1890's.

Just found your post on the Clegg message board. I have a Myra J. Clark married to Joseph Clegg….they were married in 1871. Could this be the same time frame as the picture? I would be interested in finding more out about the picture….
Where did you buy the picture and what made you interested in it for yourself?
Anxious to hear from you,

Seeking info on Clegg's from counties Lee, Harnett, and Moore of North Carolina that may have ties to the Graham family, particularly Henry White Graham and Druscilla Caddell Graham (my gg-grandparents). May also have ties to the Douglas family as one married a Clegg and is in possession of Bible records from the Graham's mentioned.
Seeking info for my family Genealogy studies! Any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

Dear Edward
Sometimes it is good to be aware of Robert Cleggs in area at the time so you
can rule them out.
I have a Robert Clegg born 1791 mentioned in 1841 census. Lowerfold Spotland
50 woollen stubber Ann 45 Alice 20 Francis 20 Martha 7. Alice witness at
Francis's wedding 1845 to Hannah Todd. Then this Robert was a fuller. This
doesn't seem to fit your details but he lives nearby.
There was also a Robert born 1800 christened Hallfold which is not far away,
father Joseph, source IGI.
More to the point in the 1821 Spotland Township Survey page 134/203 a Robert
Clegg had a cottage at Lower Jowkin and was occupier of Lee Holmes. This
sounds more like your Robert as Lower Jowkin is near Bamford. Also a Robert
Clegg had a cottage and 16 acres at Cowclough and was owner-occupier of a house
at Horsecroft Lane.
Kind regards
Frances
